CHURCHY (BET+) - Jasmine Luv will recur on the upcoming season as Breanna "Bree" Beverly, "the warm and charming owner of a local diner who becomes a confidante - and potential love interest - for Pastor Corey Carr (Kevin Fredericks)." Also on tap are Kirk Franklin as Freight Train, "a Hollywood-hopeful inmate with dreams as big as his cellblock"; Affion Crockett as Carl Kruz, "the eccentric MC hired to rig the Bible Bowl"; Norman Towns as Niles Burton, "a movie star deeply in love with Pastor Carr's ex-fiancée"; Ramona Rideout as Cindi Strong, "a small-town journalist whose off-camera antics always steal the show"; Corey Calliet as Big Ray, "a pest control pro who helps Pastor Carr out of a sticky situation"; and Keith Lee as himself, "rating Bree's cooking." (Deadline.com, 1/31)
DTF ST. LOUIS (HBO) - Arlan Ruf will co-star opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the limited series as Richard, "the socially maladjusted, delinquent stepson of Harbour's character." (Variety.com, 1/27)
ENIGMA VARIATIONS (Netflix, New!) - Jeremy Allen White is attached to star in a proposed limited series adaptation of the André Aciman novel at the streamer: "'Enigma Variations' charts the life of a man named Paul, whose loves remain as consuming and as covetous throughout his adulthood as they were in his adolescence. Whether the setting is southern Italy, where as a boy he has a crush on his parents' cabinetmaker, or a snowbound campus in New England, where his enduring passion for a girl he'll meet again and again over the years is punctuated by anonymous encounters with men - whether he's on a tennis court in Central Park or on a New York sidewalk in early spring. Paul's attachments are ungraspable, transient, and forever underwritten by raw desire. Ahead of every step Paul takes, his hopes, denials, fears, and regrets are always ready to lay their traps. Yet the dream of love lingers. We may not always know what we want. We may remain enigmas to ourselves and to others. But sooner or later, we discover who we've always known we were." Writer Amanda Kate Shuman and director Oliver Hermanus are spearheading the project for Media Res with White, Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer also executive producing. (Variety.com, 1/27)
