Ray and Eilyn Jimenez Compete in a Spousal Showdown for Real-Life Design Clients When HGTV Premieres Its New Series DIVIDED BY DESIGN On Tuesday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
As they run dueling design firms and bid against each other for clients in the red-hot Miami housing market, married interior designers Ray and Eilyn Jimenez use their professional rivalry to fuel their creativity in the new HGTV docu-series, Divided By Design. In the nine-episode season premiering Tuesday, August 20, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, Ray, who favors a modern eclectic approach, and Eilyn, who blends old-world influences with a timeless functional vibe, aim to wow potential clients with their distinct design aesthetics - knowing that only one of them will close the deal and get a chance to deliver the remarkable transformation that every client wants.
"We do the exact same thing, but we don't work together. We're the competition," said Ray. "But regardless of who wins a client, we're here to support each other no matter what."
"When clients reach out to both of us, we bid for the same jobs," said Eilyn. "However, Ray and I have different design perspectives and approaches when it comes to each project. I wouldn't want to be competing against anyone else besides my better half."
Every episode will follow the winning designer's process from beginning to end, resulting in stunning reveals that encapsulate the style and flare that is intrinsically Miami. Alongside the primary design story, the duo also will check in on a high-end project, including the full gut renovation of their own home which has taken far longer than originally planned.
In the series premiere, Ray and Eilyn will vie for a $150,000 renovation project to overhaul an entryway, kitchen, child's bedroom and combo living and dining area. Homeowner David is both the client and the contractor, yet his dark masculine style conflicts with his wife Bella's bright tropical vibe. The chosen designer will help the couple balance their contradictory wishes by combining rich wood tones with light and airy furniture pieces to create a spectacular space that the family will love.
