New Syndicated Crime Show Taps Albert Lewitinn as Showrunner and Executive Producer

Jeremy Spiegel and Theresa Coffino to serve as Executive Producers

"True Crime News" Premieres September 9

Burbank, CA (July 10, 2024) - Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Telepictures has tapped acclaimed journalist Albert Lewitinn as showrunner and executive producer for the new daily syndicated crime show "True Crime News." The show, which will produce 52 weeks of original half hours, has now been cleared in 98% of the country for its premiere on September 9.

Lewitinn said, "I am honored to be named Executive Producer and Showrunner of 'True Crime News.' I am eager to lead this exceptional team in crafting a groundbreaking program that will redefine true crime journalism with real-time news reporting. As a daily show, we will bridge the gap between local crime coverage and crimes of national interest, not only spotlighting true crimes in today's headlines, but also delving into murder, mysteries, scams, frauds, and con artists."

He added, "We will shed a light on each case in a compelling way that sparks conversation and allows viewers to feel invested in real mysteries unfolding before them each day."

Lewitinn brings decades of experience running television and digital networks and newsrooms, overseeing some of the world's most notable media properties and programs, including CBS News 24/7, ABC, CNN, and CNBC. His work has been recognized with multiple Peabody and Emmy Awards.

Jeremy Spiegel and Theresa Coffino, the executive producers of Daytime Emmy Award-winning entertainment news show "Extra," will also serve as Executive Producers of "True Crime News."

The "True Crime News" newsroom is up and running with senior staff that includes investigative journalists from some of the biggest crime shows of the year, including, "Scamanda" and "The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson," as well as an award-winning newsgathering staff and producers from ABC News, CBS News, CNN, and VICE.

Hosted by award-winning journalist and host of "True Crime News: The Podcast" Ana Garcia, "True Crime News" will deliver 52 weeks of original programming with breaking crime stories and fresh updates on developing crime stories, including murder mysteries, cold cases, missing persons, fugitives and scams.

"True Crime News" is one of the only true-crime shows in syndication that is able to jump on news as it happens. With the news pedigree of its staff, and the help of its affiliates' newsrooms, no other show in daytime can bring this type of programming in this way.

With 3.1 billion digital views in our established true crime community and over 30-million annual podcast downloads, "True Crime News" marks one of the first times a true crime show has launched in syndication with such a powerful digital footprint.

As previously announced, "True Crime News" will launch on the FOX-owned stations, including top markets such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The show will also air on stations across Nexstar, Sinclair, Hearst, CBS, Scripps, Tegna, Sunbeam, Sinclair (GOCOM), Graham Media, Bahakel, Mission, Lockwood, Block, Allen Media, Standard Media, and Winston.
