Brenda Song joins Netflix's Untitled Mindy Kaling Comedy Series starring Kate Hudson
Scott MacArthur and Drew Tarver to play Hudson's brothers
· Netflix today announced that Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur and Drew Tarver have joined the Untitled Mindy Kaling comedy series from executive producer Mindy Kaling. They join previously announced series star Kate Hudson.
· Logline: When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.
· Brenda Song (Dollface, Love, Accidentally, Secret Obsession) as Ali Lee: Born and raised in the South Side of Chicago, ALI LEE is Chief of Staff of the Waves, and knows where the bodies are buried. She understands the complex politics surrounding the Gordon family, having known Isla since they shared a dorm room in college. She's funny, tough, and even the biggest guy on the team is scared of her.
· Playing the roles of Isla Gordon's (Hudson) brothers:
o Drew Tarver (The Other Two; upcoming American Society for Universal and Netflix's Unfrosted) as Sandy Gordon: The Chief Financial Officer of the Waves, SANDY GORDON thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and is often right. Hopelessly unathletic and bad at sports, Sandy felt alienated by his family his entire life. He now works hard to prove he can return the franchise to greatness - or at least make them profitable.
o Scott MacArthur (The Mick, The Righteous Gemstones, No Hard Feelings) as Ness Gordon: The emotionally sensitive General Manager of the Los Angeles Waves, NESS GORDON has an infectious enthusiasm for ideas both good and bad. Ness is a former player himself who burned out after one season in the pros. Now he yearns for greatness in the front office to make up for his unremarkable career on the court, and to impress his siblings.
· Writers / Executive Producers: Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Never Have I Ever), Ike Barinholtz (History of the World, The Mindy Project), David Stassen (History of the World, The Mindy Project)
· Showrunner: David Stassen
· Executive Producers: Kate Hudson, Howard Klein (3 Arts Entertainment), Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis
· Producer: Jordan Rambis
· Studio: The series is produced by Mindy Kaling's Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal.
· Episodes: 10
