ALIEN (FX on Hulu) - Moe Bar-El is the latest bound for the film-turned-TV series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com, 1/4)
AMERICAN BORN CHINESE (Disney+) - The streamer has canceled the action fantasy series after one season. (Deadline.com, 1/5)
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (Peacock) - Derek Simonds has been tapped as showrunner of the long-in-the-works reboot of the sci-fi franchise from executive producer Sam Esmail. He places Michael Lesslie. (Deadline.com, 1/5)
BUNK'D (Disney Channel) - The network's longest-running live-action series will wrap with its current seventh season. The final 10 episodes are due later this year. "With a fantastic cast of characters and hilarious and heartful storylines, it's no wonder Bunk'd has been one of Disney Channel's longest-running and successful live-action series," Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television, said in a statement. "We'd like to thank our talented cast, creative team and crew for bringing tremendous joy and laughter to kids for seven incredible seasons." (Deadline.com, 12/29)

ELSBETH (CBS) - Jesse Tyler Ferguson will guest on the upcoming drama as Skip Mason, "the brilliant creator and producer of Lavish Ladies, a popular reality TV show featuring wealthy women and too much white wine. In his mad pursuit of 'good TV,' Skip makes some bad decisions that lead to resentment, blackmail, and murder." (TVLine.com, 1/4)
FAILED EXPERIMENT, THE (Amazon, New!) - Bill Maher will roll out a new six-part limited documentary series on January 9 "that offers an unprecedented look into the world of animal experimentation and the inspirational visionaries who are fighting against it." FIGHT NIGHT: THE MILLION DOLLAR HEIST (Peacock) - Samuel L. Jackson has signed onto the Kevin Hart-led limited series as Frank Moten, "a real-life underworld kingpin coined the Black Godfather by the NY tabloids." (Deadline.com, 1/5)
GAME OF THRONES GOLDEN EMPIRE PROJECT/GAME OF THRONES SEA SNAKE PROJECT (Max) - Bruno Heller's "Nine Voyages" installment of the "Game of Thrones" franchise has pivoted to from live action to animation, George R.R. Martin reports. It joins the previously announced "Golden Empire" project, one of two other animated projects. (GeorgeRRMartin.com, 12/31)
MINX (Starz) - The pay channel has nixed the comedy after two seasons. Starz had rescued the series after its cancellation by Max (then HBO Max). (Deadline.com, 1/5)
NCIS/NCIS: HAWAI'I (CBS) - "NCIS: Los Angeles" alumnus Daniela Ruah will direct episodes of both series during their upcoming seasons. (Deadline.com, 1/5)
NIGHT COURT (NBC) - Kapil Talwalkar's Neil will not return for the upcoming second season of the comedy. Said report indicates "the show wanted to take things in a different direction creatively, with lots of different characters and personalities, more in the vein of the original Night Court." Additionally, Gary Anthony Williams's Flobert will continue to recur in season two. (TVLine.com, 12/28)
SISTAS (BET) - Branden Wellington's Tony King will return as a regular for the series' recently launched seventh season. (Deadline.com, 1/5)
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (FOX) - Nigel Lythgoe is exiting the series after becoming "the subject of two sexual misconduct lawsuits, including one filed by Paula Abdul who accused him of assaulting her twice over the past 20 years." "I have informed the producers of So You Think You Can Dance of my decision to step back from participating in this year's series," Lythgoe said. "I did so with a heavy heart but entirely voluntarily because this great program has always been about dance and dancers, and that's where its focus needs to remain. UNCLE SAMSIK (Disney+/Hulu, New!) - The Song Kang-ho-led drama series is set to bow on the streamer in the U.S. later this year: "The series follows San, an ambitious idealist who is driven to turn his country's fortunes around. He attracts the attentions of Pak Doochill (Uncle Samsik) a shady fixer who takes whatever steps necessary to help him accomplish his boss's goals. Together, the pair form an uneasy alliance, navigating the complexities of the established system, united by their shared goal of a prosperous future." Writer/director Shin Yeonshick is behind the project, which comes from Slingshot Studios. (Deadline.com, 1/3)
