Brian Boucher Joins NHL on TNT Team as Ice Level Analyst

Entering its third season of NHL on TNT coverage, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports has reached multi-year extensions with its four studio analysts - Wayne Gretzky, Paul Bissonnette, Anson Carter and Henrik Lundqvist - who will continue to appear alongside host Liam McHugh in offering insightful, engaging and entertaining pre-game, intermission and post-game coverage throughout the 2023-24 season.

Additionally, play-by-play commentator Kenny Albert and game analyst Eddie Olczyk will be joined by the newest member of the NHL on TNT team - Brian Boucher, a 13-year NHL goaltender, as ice level analyst. NHL on TNT game commentators will also include play-by-play announcer Brendan Burke, analysts Darren Pang and Jennifer Botterill and reporters Jackie Redmond and Tarik El-Bashir.

Emmy nominated for its coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the NHL on TNT studio and game coverage has also been a hit with fans. Over its first two seasons, TNT's viewership has increased 30% over comparable cable telecasts during the 2020-21 season.

WBD Sports will drop the puck on its blockbuster 62-game regular season schedule Wednesday, Oct. 11 on TNT and the B/R Sports Add-On tier on Max, when rookie phenom Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks take on David Pastrňák, Brad Marchand and the 2023 Presidents' Trophy-winning Boston Bruins at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by a star-studded matchup between Anže Kopitar, Kevin Fiala and the Los Angeles Kings hosting Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche at 10 p.m.

NHL on TNT Studio Analysts and Host

Wayne Gretzky, NHL on TNT Studio Analyst

Wayne Gretzky, who has been an NHL on TNT studio analyst since 2021, is the league's all-time leader in goals, assists and points. Gretzky has 61 league records in addition to four Stanley Cup titles with the Edmonton Oilers. Following his 10 years with the Oilers, Gretzky went on to play for the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers. Gretzky retired from the NHL in 1999 after a 20-season career and was inducted into the Hall of Fame the same season.

Paul Bissonnette, NHL on TNT Studio Analyst

Paul Bissonnette joined the NHL on TNT for its inaugural season in 2021 and has quickly become one of the leading voices in the game. Bissonnette played 12 seasons of professional hockey, including five seasons with the Arizona Coyotes in the National Hockey League, after being drafted in 2008 by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following his playing career, Bissonnette joined the Coyotes broadcast team as well as the Spittin' Chiclets podcast with Barstool Sports.  

Anson Carter, NHL on TNT Studio Analyst

Anson Carter has also been a mainstay on the NHL on TNT since its opening season. Carter is an 11-year veteran of the National Hockey League, most notably with the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers. Following his playing career, in 2013 Carter assumed the role of on-air analyst with NBC Sports, covering the NHL regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. In addition to his NHL on TNT role, Carter also currently serves as an analyst for MSG Network and TSN. As co-chair of the NHL Player Inclusion Committee, Carter has become the leading voice in diversifying the game of hockey and accelerating inclusion efforts.  

Henrik Lundqvist, NHL on TNT Studio Analyst

Henrik Lundqvist joined the NHL on TNT last season. He retired in 2021 as one of the greatest goaltenders in the history of the National Hockey League after an illustrious 15-year career with the New York Rangers and remains the team's all-time leader in wins (459) and shutouts (64). Lundqvist won the Vezina trophy in 2012 and was nominated in each of his first three seasons with the Rangers, earning the title "King Henrik" in his 2005 rookie season. Just one year later in the 2006 Winter Olympics he led the Swedish men's team to their second gold medal. Lundqvist will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November of 2023, his first year of eligibility. Lundqvist continues to contribute to MSG Network's studio coverage of the Rangers.

Liam McHugh, NHL on TNT Studio Host

Liam McHugh currently serves as host of NHL on TNT. McHugh has hosted some of the most high-profile properties and events in sports, including a previous stint with NBC, hosting the studio show for the NHL regular-season, Stanley Cup Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final, as well as the network's Football Night in America and Super Bowl LII pre-game show. McHugh has also contributed to coverage across four Winter and Summer Olympics. He also hosts MLS coverage for Apple TV.

NHL on TNT Game Commentators

Kenny Albert, NHL on TNT Play-by-Play Announcer 

Kenny Albert is the lead play-by-play voice of the NHL on TNT, having called the Stanley Final on the network this past season. Albert is a three-time National Sports Emmy Award finalist and the only play-by-play broadcaster currently calling all four major sports in North America. In addition to his TNT responsibilities, this is Albert's 30thyear broadcasting NFL games on FOX (including five NFC Divisional playoff games). He has also worked Major League Baseball games on various FOX networks for the past 27 years. Albert is entering his 28th season as the radio voice of the New York Rangers, and he also calls New York Knicks games on MSG Network. He has called men's and women's ice hockey at the last six Winter Olympics for NBC, as well as track and field, volleyball, and baseball at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Games.

Brendan Burke, NHL on TNT Play-by-Play Announcer 

Burke currently serves as a play-by-play voice for NHL on TNT, as well as New York Islanders telecasts on MSG Networks. He is also the lead voice of MLB Sunday Leadoff and provides play-by-play for Big Ten football telecasts on NBC. Burke previously served as play-by-play commentator for NBC Sports' NHL and Premier Lacrosse League coverage and was part of the network's coverage of the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Olympic Games as well as college basketball broadcasts, among others.

Eddie Olczyk, NHL on TNT Game Analyst 

Eddie Olczyk, who joined the NHL on TNT in its first season, played 16 seasons in the NHL, winning the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. Following his playing career, he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins game broadcasts for Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh and provided analysis for ESPN, ESPN2 and NHL Radio. Olczyk was head coach of the Penguins from 2003-05, before returning to the broadcast booth in 2006 with NBC and the Chicago Blackhawks as lead hockey analyst for both. In addition to his NHL role, Olczyk also became an analyst for the Seattle Kraken in 2022. A stage III colon cancer survivor, Olczyk was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. 

Brian Boucher, NHL on TNT Game Analyst

Brian Boucher joins the NHL on TNT in 2023 as an ice-level analyst for its live game coverage, following years as both a game and studio analyst for ESPN and NBC. Boucher began his broadcast career with NBC Sports Philadelpha in 2013, directly following a successful 13-year career as goaltender in the National Hockey League. A first-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1995, Boucher played for seven teams across his illustrious career, including the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks, among others, and currently holds the NHL's modern record of the longest shutout streak at 332:01, set in the 03-04 season with the Coyotes.

Darren Pang, NHL on TNT Game Analyst 

Darren Pang, part of the NHL on TNT broadcast team since its opening season, played three NHL seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks before transitioning his career into broadcasting, becoming one of the premier announcers in hockey. He currently is the game analyst on Chicago Blackhawks telecasts and has also provided commentary for FS1 and national NHL telecasts on NBC and Canada's TSN and Sportsnet. Prior to the Blackhawks, Pang was the lead analyst for the St. Louis Blues for 14 years. He has broadcast more than 95 Stanley Cup Final games, the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and worked as an analyst for three Winter Olympics.

Jennifer Botterill, NHL on TNT Game Analyst

Jennifer Botterill is an analyst for the NHL on TNT, primarily for its game coverage while also contributing to studio shows at times throughout the season. Botterill is one of Canada's most successful athletes, as a member of the Canadian Women's Hockey Team for fourteen years, playing in four Winter Olympics. She is a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist (2002, 2006, 2010), an Olympic silver medalist (1998) and a five-time World Champion, twice being named the most valuable player at the World Championship tournaments. Botterill is a graduate of Harvard University where she played hockey and was the team Captain. She is the only two-time winner of the Patty Kazmaier award, given to the top player in women's college hockey.

Jackie Redmond, NHL on TNT Reporter

Redmond is a rink-side reporter for NHL on TNT, infusing more than a decade of reporting experience into telecasts. She also currently serves as an NHL Network studio host and reporter, co-hosing NHL Now. Prior to arriving at NHL Network, Redmond spent six years as an anchor for Canada's Sportsnet, where she hosted a variety of studio programs, including the flagship show "Sportsnet Central," plus "Misplays of the Month," "Plays of the Month," and "Hockey Central Playoff Xtra." Redmond, a London, Ontario native and lifelong hockey fan, began her professional career by winning "Gillette DRAFTED 3: The Search for Canada's Next Sportscaster" in 2011, becoming the first female winner in the show's history.

Tarik El-Bashir, Reporter

Tarik El-Bashir is a senior writer for The Athletic covering the Washington Capitals and a reporter for NHL on TNT. He is a native Washingtonian who has spent the past two decades writing about the city's teams, including stints covering the Redskins, Capitals and Georgetown men's basketball. He's worked as a beat writer for The New York Times, The Washington Post and, most recently, NBC Sports Washington. Tarik graduated from Howard University and resides in Northern Virginia.
