Hour-Long Special - the Latest Installment in Basketball Stories Series - Revisits One of the Most Dominant & Entertaining Rookie Seasons in NBA History
NBA TV will premiere an hour-long special Shaq: The Rookie Season, reflecting on one of the most dominant and entertaining rookie seasons in NBA history on Monday, Feb. 13, at 10 p.m. ET.
The latest Basketball Stories retrospective looks back at Shaquille O'Neal's first season with the Orlando Magic. The highly-anticipated first overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft arrived on the scene with the same authority as one of his thunderous dunks.
On his way to being named the 1993 NBA Rookie of the Year, O'Neal became the first NBA rookie since Michael Jordan to be voted as a starter in the All-Star Game. The former LSU star also became the first rookie to win Player of the Week honors in his first week in the NBA.
In addition to his numerous accolades, O'Neal delivered never-before-seen moments on the court - demonstrating incredible athleticism and regularly destroying backboards.
Interviews include: O'Neal, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Dennis Scott, Ahmad Rashad, Charles Barkley, Isiah Thomas and Reggie Miller.
NBA TV's Basketball Stories storytelling franchise has included Decade to Remember, the 1988 All-Star Dunk Contest, Rip City Revival, 1996 NBA Draft and Reign Man & The Glove.
On-demand programming, including the Basketball Stories series, is also available directly to consumers through the NBA App.
