DEXTER: NEW BLOOD (Showtime) - The pay channel will not be moving forward with a second season of the sequel series. Instead the network, soon merge with Paramount+, "is exploring a number of new iterations of Dexter, including a prequel series centered around a young version of the titular antihero." (TVLine.com)
ELSBETH (CBS, New!) - Carrie Preston is attached to star in a new drama at the Eye as her "The Good Wife/Fight" character Elsbeth Tascioni. Michelle King and Robert King are behind the pilot, the latter of which will direct with Liz Glotzer also executive producing for King Size Productions and CBS Studios. Its logline: "After her successful career in Chicago, Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), an astute but unconventional attorney, utilizes her singular point of view to make unique observations and corner brilliant criminals alongside the NYPD. Based on the character featured in The Good Wife and The Good Fight." (Deadline.com)
GREEN LANTERN (HBO Max) - Greg Berlanti's long-in-the-works TV take on the DC Comics heroes has formally been shuttered in favor of the just announced "Lanterns" project. "Greg's vision was more of a space opera that he wanted to do," Peter Safran told reporters at a presentation of the new DC slate on the Warner Bros. Studios lot Monday. "Our vision is more True Detective, more of a terrestrial-based investigation story. We all agreed to part ways." (THR.com)
LA BREA (NBC) - The show's just ordered third season will be compromised of six episodes set to to begin filming in March in Australia. The actors were offered a release from the show after said season in exchange for agreeing to the shorter order. The series could still theoretically continue after season three if the cast re-signed or a new cast was tapped. (Deadline.com)
MATLOCK (CBS, New!) - Kathy Bates has been tapped to star in a gender-flipped reboot of the 1986-1995 series from Jennie Snyder Urman. Joanna Klein, Eric Christian Olsen and John Will are also slated to executive produce the pilot alongside Bates for CBS Studios. The logline is as follows: "After achieving success in her younger years, the brilliant septuagenarian Madeline Matlock (Kathy Bates) rejoins the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within. Based on the classic television series of the same name." (Deadline.com)
PACT, THE (CBS) - The Eye is slated to open a writers' room for Marcus Dalzine's proposed drama series for a potential straight-to-series order. Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson, Dr. Sampson Davis, Dr. George Jenkins and Dr. Rameck Hunt are also among the executive producers for CBS Studios. The logline was provided as follows: "After a childhood pact leads three friends from inner-city Newark to become doctors, they reunite in their hometown to open a medical center to serve their community. Based on the book "The Pact: Three Young Men Make a Promise and Fulfill a Dream" by Dr. Sampson Davis, Dr. George Jenkins, and Dr. Rameck Hunt, with Lisa Frazier Page." (Deadline.com)
ROCK CAMP (FOX, New!) - Steve Basilone has sold a single-camera comedy to the network which "follows a down on his luck rock star, who after a series of screw-ups, begrudgingly goes to teach at Rock Camp - a summer camp where anyone can live out their fantasy of shredding next to their favorite rockers - in order to satisfy a court mandate and save his reputation." Jeff Rowe and David Fishof, founder of Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, will also executive produce for FOX Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
SUPERMAN & LOIS (The CW) - The series is expected to continue "for one or two more seasons" despite today's announcement that DC Studios will unify its TV and film universes going forward. (Deadline.com)
WATSON (CBS) - The Eye has likewise opened a writers' room for Craig Sweeny's proposed take on Arthur Conan Doyle's literary hero for a potential straight-to-series order. Aaron Kaplan, Brian Morewitz and Shäron Moalem will also executive produce for Kapital Entertainment and CBS Studios. Its logline is as follows: "Shortly after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, Dr. John Watson resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare genetic disorders, only to uncover a startling secret that puts him in the crosshairs of Moriarty once again. Inspired by the characters from Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes mysteries." (Deadline.com)
