AMERICAN HIRO (FX, New!) - The life of Hiroaki "Rocky" Aoki is set to be the focus of a potential series at the company which "will delve into Aoki's colorful life as a mogul and businessman, from founding Benihana to being an Olympic wrestler, professional speed boat racer, hot air balloonist, and nightclub impresario. It will also examine his complicated relationship with his family and his attempts to reconcile his Japanese heritage with his American dreams." Jonathan Abrams is behind the project with Steve Aoki and Devon Aoki; Electric Somewhere's Jon M. Chu and Caitlin Fioto; Five All in the Fifth Entertainment's Douglas Banker; and YMU Group's Matt Colon and Dougie Bohay also executive producing for 20th Television. Jack McCallum's book "Making It in America: The Life and Times of Rocky Aoki" will serve as its basis. (Variety.com)
CHRISLEY KNOWS BEST (USA Network) - The cable channel still plans to air the second half of the series' already filmed ninth season, "following the convictions Tuesday of its stars Todd and Julie Chrisley on multiple counts of bank fraud and tax evasion." Unclear however is the previously ordered 10th season, which has yet to begin production. (Deadline.com)
CRIMINAL NATURE (A.K.A. NATIONAL PARKS - 2022 VERSION) (ABC) - Parker Young has been tapped as a lead opposite Michaela McManus in the drama pilot as Clay, "Audrey's (McManus) ex-boyfriend. As much of a cowboy as he is a cop, Clay knows more about the Wild Flower Killer than anyone else alive, and he's been temporarily reassigned to Audrey's team for the duration of their current investigation. Clay has always regretted letting Audrey, the love of his life, go - and he now intends to put up a fight for her - even though she's engaged to Keldon, another ISB (Investigative Services Branch) agent." DAVA SHASTRI'S LAST DAY (HBO Max, New!) - Kirthana Ramisetti's novel is being developed for television at the streaming service. Peter Jaysen, Alan Gasmer and Bob Bookman of Veritas Entertainment Group will executive produce with Andy Cutler as a co-producer. The search is underway for a writer. In the novel, "Dava Shastri is one of the world's wealthiest women. But when she learns she is dying of brain cancer, she decides to leak news of her death early so that she can read the obituaries from around the world. But once the news is out, secrets from her past are exposed that shake her and her children to their core." (Variety.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - Kausar Mohammed will recur on the series as Meena Dhawan a.k.a Fast Track, "a titan in the scientific community who deftly balances her hunger for envelope-pushing scientific experimentation with a strong moral compass. These qualities lead Dhawan to discover a new way to democratize the gift of super-speed, finally allowing all humankind to reap the benefits traditionally relegated to meta-human speedsters." She made her first appearance in tonight's episode. (Deadline.com)
NEIGHBORHOOD, THE (CBS) - Bill Martin and Mike Schiff have been tapped as the latest showrunners of the comedy series. They'll take over from Meg DeLoatch, who departed earlier this year. (Deadline.com)
PARTY DOWN LIMITED SERIES REVIVAL (Starz) - Quinta Brunson will guest on the revival series as Jaff, "the sharp, calculating agent of [Ryan] Hansen's himbo actor character, Kyle Bradway." (Variety.com)
UNTITLED BRIDGERTON SPIN-OFF PROJECT (Netflix) - Katie Brayben and Keir Charles will recur on the spin-off series as Vivian Ledger and Lord Ledger, respectively. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
