SHOWTIME(R) PROGRAMMING ALERT
· BUSHWICK BILL: GETO BOY, a documentary film that was previously announced as part of the SHOWTIME(R) HIP HOP 50 series, is no longer airing on Friday, April 29.
· The other SHOWTIME HIP HOP 50 titles for April will premiere as scheduled: LA MADRINA: THE SAVAGE LIFE OF LORINE PADILLA (Friday, April 15) and CYPRESS HILL: INSANE IN THE BRAIN (Wednesday, April 20).
· HIP HOP 50 runs over the next two years and encompasses unscripted series and features, podcasts and digital shorts by and about some of the foremost names in the genre, culminating with the 50th anniversary of the genre in 2023. Previous titles include YOU'RE WATCHING VIDEO MUSIC BOX, RICKY POWELL: THE INDIVIDUALIST and ROLLING LIKE THUNDER.
· The HIP HOP 50 initiative is driven by Nas and Mass Appeal Chief Creative Officer and Emmy(R) nominee Sacha Jenkins (WU-TANG CLAN: OF MICS AND MEN, BITCHIN': THE SOUND AND FURY OF RICK JAMES).
· Directed by Gregy Roman, BUSHWICK BILL: GETO BOY chronicles the storied and controversial life of the Jamaican-American rapper and music producer known as Bushwick Bill, an original member of iconic, pioneering Houston rap group the Geto Boys.
