AVERAGE JOE (BET+, New!) - Robb Cullen has scored a cast-contingent script-to-series order from the streamer for a new project set in The Hill district of Pittsburgh: "It follows blue-collar plumber, Joe Washington, who discovers his recently deceased father lived a secret, second life and stole millions of dollars from dangerous people just before he died. Now those people think Joe knows where it is. A bloody and violent confrontation triggers a chain of events that force Joe and his close-knit circle of family and friends out of their very average and mundane lives into a life or death race against time to find the truth and the millions." McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh of Wonderland Sound and Vision will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
AZNBBGRL (Freeform, New!) - Natalie Chaidez and Dinh Thai have scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a new hourlong drama: "Set in the vibrant Vietnamese community of Little Saigon in Southern California's Orange County, AZNBBGRL is a coming-of-age story about three Asian American teenagers driven by a desire to break free from generational expectations and carve out their own place in the world. Together, these three very different women find escape and form a bond deeper than family when they become entangled with a street gang that offers them a way out." Kai Yu Wu and The Detective Agency's Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan will also executive produce for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
BIG DOOR PRIZE, THE (Apple TV+) - The Chris O'Dowd-led comedy series has cast Djouliet Amara as Trina, "Dusty (O'Dowd) and Cass's (Gabrielle Dennis) incredibly bright, sarcastic daughter, who is privately dealing with an intense cocktail of grief and guilt"; Ally Maki as Hana, "who works as a bartender at The Bedford Bar"; and Crystal Fox as Izzy, "Cass's charismatic and attention-seeking mother, she is a former dancer and the longest-serving mayor in Deerfield's history."
