BOONDOCKS, THE (REBOOT SERIES) (HBO Max) - The streamer has shelved its proposed reboot of the Adult Swim animated series. The project was given a two-season/24-episode order back in September 2019 but ultimately never materialized. Producer Sony Pictures Television is "currently evaluating other options for the project." (Deadline.com)
CAL FIRE (CBS) - The drama - from Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater - has been ordered to pilot by the network. In the project, seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence, young convict Bode Donovan joins a firefighting program that returns him to his small Northern California hometown, where he and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed of Jerry Bruckheimer Television also executive produce for CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
CRIMINAL MINDS (REBOOT SERIES) (Paramount+) - Co-stars Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler and Paget Brewster are on track to return for the long-in-the-works 10-episode reboot series. Lead producer ABC Signature is also in negotiations with longtime showrunner Erica Messer to return in said capacity. (Deadline.com)
CSI: VEGAS (CBS) - Marg Helgenberger is in talks to return as Catherine Willows for the revival's second season. (TVLine.com)
LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME (NBC) - Denis Leary is slated to recur on the series as Frank Donnelly, "a fellow member of the NYPD who engages with Det. Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni." (Deadline.com)
NCIS: HAWAI'I (CBS) - Alec Mapa will guest on the February 28 episode as "Ernie's (Jason Antoon) friend, Dr. Tony Lee, to identify suspects who may have had access to his classified weapon. Meanwhile, the rest of the team looks into the case of Marines having damaged ear canals from ultrasonic waves." (Variety.com)
REAL HOUSEWIVES OF SALT LAKE CITY, THE (Bravo) - Mary Cosby has been dropped from the series moving forward after "racially insensitive comments she made during the show's second season." (THR.com)
RUN THE WORLD (Starz) - Co-star Andrea Bordeaux will not return for the show's second season. The report indicates her "departure stems from the new Covid protocols on the show," which "requires casts as well as crews working in Zone A on their productions to be fully vaccinated." (Deadline.com)
STORYTOWN (HBO Max, New!) - Khiyon Hursey, Harrison Richlin and Jay Dyer are set to team for an adult animated comedy at the streamer, in which "when a grandson starts causing trouble in the streets, his grandfather begins to share life lessons he learned growing up with rapping fairytale characters in a place called Storytown." HartBeat Productions' Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, Mike Stein and Tiffany Brown and OBB Pictures' Michael D. Ratner, Scott Ratner and Elias Tanner are also on board to executive produce the project, which will produce an animatic presentation. (Deadline.com)
TELL ME LIES (Hulu) - Branden Cook, Spencer House and Benjamin Wadsworth are the latest cast in the adaptation of Carola Lovering's novel. Cook will play Evan, "a kind, intelligent guy who often feels stunted by his father's success, causing him to sometimes lack motivation." House then will portray Wrigley, "the most celebrated athlete on campus and always the life of the party"; and Wadsworth is Drew, "a college freshman and Wrigley's younger brother." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED ORPHAN BLACK PROJECT (AMC) - Anna Fishko has been tapped to pen the long-in-the-works follow-up to the series, a new story set in the same world. Said report indicates a writers' room is now open for the project, with details still remaining under wraps. (Variety.com)
