(LOS ANGELES) - Founded 74 years ago, Radford Motors is world-renowned for turning cars into pieces of art - combining luxury and performance to create show-stopping vehicles for A-list clientele. The iconic luxury car builder is being revived, and an all-new two-hour special, RADFORD RETURNS, will take viewers along for the ride beginning Saturday, January 22 exclusively on discovery+ in the US and UK.
RADFORD RETURNS follows the rebirth of the iconic British car company at the hands of a team of car enthusiasts, each tasked with recreating their own version of Lotus' Type 62, a high-performing sports vehicle. However, the road to the racetrack doesn't come without its speed bumps!
Radford Motors owner and lead designer Mark Stubbs works with master mechanic Ant Anstead, test driver Jenson Button and lawyer Roger Behle, to revamp three versions of the classic race car: a Gold Leaf-spec car, the John Player Special version, and the Type 62-2 Classic. As the team works tirelessly to maintain Radford's British roots, Mark, Ant, Jenson and Roger are working against shipping delays, scheduling conflicts, culture clashes and a near-approaching deadline. Will the team be successful in bringing Radford's core British heart to the tracks of Monterrey, California?
Meet the team behind Radford's Supercars:
· Mark Stubbs is the co-owner of Radford Motors and oversees each Radford car from a blank page idea to the road or track. He has a Master of design focused in Transport design from Coventry University, United Kingdom and has been integral in shaping vehicles of the future for companies such as Bentley, Aston Martin and Bugatti, Nissan, GM, Ford and more.
· Ant Anstead, co-owner and chief engineer of Radford Motors. He is responsible for overseeing the build process from start to finish.
· Jenson Button is the co-owner and development driver of Radford Motors. He plays a crucial role as test driver, honing the development and driving characteristics of each Radford vehicle.
· Roger Behle is the co-owner and deal-maker of Radford Motors, handles all the non-glory parts of Radford's business. From trademarks to contracts, Roger "keeps the wheels on" behind the scenes.
Together, this team of experts will turn their dreams into reality and produce Radford's last petrol powered supercar, and the first the company has built in decades.
