CNBC'S "AMERICAN GREED" RETURNS FOR 15TH SEASON AND A MILESTONE 200TH EPISODE

Season 15 Premieres January 5th at 10PM ET/PT with High-Profile Ripped-from-the-Headlines Stories

200th Episode Featuring Trial of Theranos' CEO Elizabeth Holmes Premieres January 12th at 10PM ET/PT on CNBC

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. - December 2, 2021 - CNBC's longest-running primetime original series, "American Greed" is back for a momentous 15th season on Wednesday, January 5th at 10pm ET/PT; and this season the series celebrates reaching its 200th episode. The award-winning series is narrated by legendary actor Stacy Keach. Two hundred episodes in, the truth remains: some people will do anything for money.

"There is a deep fascination with how far people will go in pursuit of money and 'American Greed' sets the standard in storytelling," said Denise Contis, Executive Vice President and Head of Content, CNBC Primetime. "With the 200th episode approaching, we are serving up bigger and bolder cases of corruption, excess and greed to our loyal and engaged fan base."

The season premiere episode (January 5th at 10pm ET/PT), "The Life & Crimes of Joel Greenberg," follows the tale of a privileged millennial from a rich Florida family, Joel Greenberg, who one day decides to run for Seminole County Tax Collector - and wins. But once in office he embarks on a breathtaking series of crimes, ranging from fraud to sex trafficking. Eventually the Feds set their sights on him - and it quickly becomes clear that his case may be bigger and stranger than anyone had imagined.

CNBC marks the 200th episode (January 12th at 10pm ET/PT) with one of the most infamous alleged corporate fraud cases of the 21st century - Theranos, now back in the news with the high-profile trial of founder and former CEO Elizabeth Holmes ("Theranos CEO on Trial").

Additional ripped-from-the-headlines stories featured this season include a look inside the astonishing rise and near-collapse of WeWork ("How WeWork Went Wild"); the investigation into how two brand-new Boeing 737 Max jets fell out of the sky five months apart and killed 346 people (" Boeing's Deadly Design"); the man accused of being one of the biggest thieves the world has ever seen, Jho Low ("The Biggest Theft of All Time?"); and the stunning story of a suburban Eagle Scout turned Dark Web drug lord, Aaron Shamo ("The Kingpin Next Door").

CNBC's hit documentary series "American Greed" explores the dark side of the American Dream - where money seduces, power corrupts, and the line between right and wrong blurs fast. From brazen con artists to CEOs with secrets, each episode goes beyond the sensational headlines to tell a tale of excess and outrage, using first-hand accounts from the key players themselves.

"American Greed" is produced for CNBC by Kurtis Productions with Mike West serving as executive producer. Luke Bauer is the executive producer for CNBC.

For Listings Editors: "American Greed" will premiere on Wednesday, January 5th at 10PM ET/PT with subsequent episodes airing weekly. Two back-to-back new episodes will air at 10PM and 11PM ET on Wednesday February 2nd on CNBC.
