FOLLOWING THE BREAKOUT SUCCESS OF "BMF" STARZ GREENLIGHTS "BMF" DOCUMENTARY SERIES FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CURTIS "50 CENT" JACKSON
STARZ ORIGINAL SERIES "BMF" AVERAGES 6.5 MILLION MULTIPLATFORM VIEWS PER EPISODE WITH FINALE DEBUTING THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21
Santa Monica, Calif. -
November 18, 2021 - STARZ announced today the greenlight of a "BMF" documentary series from executive producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson following the success of the STARZ Original Series "BMF," a passion project of Jackson's. The eight-episode series will be executive produced by Jackson and Shan Nicholson ("Jerusalem: City of Faith and Fury" and Rubble Kings) who will also serve as the series' showrunner. The series will be directed by Nicholson and Chris Frierson (The King, Don't Try to Understand: A Year in the Life of Earl 'DMX' Simmons).
"BMF," inspired by the true story of brothers Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory (Demetrius Flenory, Jr.) and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory (Da'Vinchi), currently averages 6.5 Million multiplatform views per episode. The series' finale episode will premiere this Sunday, November 21 across all STARZ platforms.
Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson said, "The Docu-Series will offer an inside look at different perspectives from all of those involved, BMF... . Blowing Money Fast."
"The success of 'BMF' demonstrates a continued rise in fan demand and interest in the story of the Flenory Brothers," said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO at STARZ. "We're excited to dive deeper into the world of Black Mafia Family in this new project with Curtis, Shan and the teams at G-Unit and Jigsaw."
"BMF" is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country. Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory's charismatic leadership, Terry "Southwest T" Flenory's business acumen and the fraternal partnership's vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement. This is a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.
Senior Vice President of Original Programming Alice Dickens-Koblin is the executive overseeing the "BMF" documentary series on behalf of STARZ. The documentary series is produced by G-Unit Film and Television and Alex Gibney's Jigsaw Productions.
