AN ALL-NEW SEASON OF "THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO" PREMIERES ON ANIMAL PLANET SATURDAY, AUGUST 14 AT 8 PM ET/PT
Fan-favorite series THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO returns for a second season with all-new, memorable animal stories from the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance (formerly San Diego Zoo Global) which premieres on Animal Planet Saturday, August 14 at 8 PM ET/PT. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance , which is committed to inspiring a passion for nature and creating a world where all life thrives, features two parks, the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park which is home to more than 700 species and 6,500 animals.
The season two premiere episode, "Baby Miracles", introduces Animal Planet audiences to stories about baby animals, including Funani, a river hippo who welcomes a new addition to the family, and Omeo, an orphaned koala joey. The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance team also travels to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya to help develop an innovative milk formula for elephant calves who do not have mothers. Other stories this season will include a pair of lappet-faced vultures who produce the Alliance's first fertile egg for the species; wallaby Thelma and her joey Everest who become ambassador animals; and even a few koalas Puck, Ra, and Laksmi who are nursed back to health after being saved from the bushfires. The San Diego Zoo Safari Park became host to the only pair of platypuses, Eve and Birrarung, outside Australia and THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO audiences this season can follow along as a dedicated group of wildlife care specialists and veterinarians who go above and beyond every day to provide care for these animals in the name of wildlife conservation.

In season one of THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO, now also available on discovery+, a variety of wildlife are introduced to audiences, including a flock of ostriches known as the "Spice Girls," pandas, giraffes, Galápagos tortoises, koalas, elephants, and mountain lions. discovery+ audiences also meet two baby cheetahs who learn how to be 'ambassadors' for their species, in addition to a set of California condors, a species brought back from the brink of extinction by the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance team.
