HEARTSTOPPER (Netflix) - Joe Locke and Kit Connor have scored the lead roles in the eight-part graphic novel adaptation, which "tells the story of Nick and Charlie (Locke and Connor), two British teens at an all-boys grammar school. Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together. They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn't think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realized." Also cast in unspecified roles are William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood and Sebastian Croft. (Deadline.com)
MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN (Paramount+) - Derek Webster and Taylor Handley are the latest bound for the Jeremy Renner-led drama series. Webster will play Stevie, "a Kingstown police officer"; while Handley is Kyle McClusky, "a police officer trying to become a trooper. He is the youngest of the McClusky sons and brother to Mike McClusky (Renner), the mayor of Kingstown." (Deadline.com)
PAPER GIRLS (Amazon) - Sofia Rosinsky, Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet and Fina Strazza have scored the lead roles on the comic book series adaptation. Rosinsky plays Mac Coyle, "a working-class Catholic girl, Mac is the first paper boy in Stony Stream who isn't a boy"; with Jones as Tiffany Quilkin, "he only child of success-oriented, mixed race parents, Tiffany has big plans for her future and no intention of seeing them derailed"; Lai Nelet as Erin Tieng, "a dutiful daughter, sister, and yes, newly-minted newspaper employee, Erin often feels caught between worlds"; and Strazza as KJ Brandman, "KJ is one of the only Jewish girls in Stony Stream and comes from the wealthiest family in town, two things nobody will let her forget." WECRASHED (Apple TV+) - Kyle Marvin has been cast opposite Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto in the limited series as Miguel McKelvey, "the co-founder of WeWork." (Variety.com)
WILLOW (Disney+) - Amer Chadha-Patel has scored a lead role on the film-turned-TV series as Boorman, "a thief and liar who joins the quest in exchange for getting out of prison." Tony Revolori had previously been speculated as playing said role but is playing a different character. (Deadline.com)
