CLOISTER F*CKED (The CW) - Caitlin Kinnunen and Bella Ortiz have booked the lead roles on the drama pilot. Kinnunen's Sister Frances is "the complacent angel on your shoulder, an impressionable, people-pleasing, young nun who believes in the power of thoughts and prayers and never breaks the rules - until she meets Sr. Maggie." And Ortiz's Sister Maggie is "the daredevil on your shoulder, a radical, millennial nun hellbent on shaking up the power structures of the Catholic Church while being of service to her Brooklyn neighborhood. She can't help but get into trouble, which is why she'll need Sr. Frances." (Deadline.com)
DARK HORSE (ABC, New!) - The Alphabet has given a pilot order to a domestic take on the Australian drama "Total Control," which "follows Alex Irving, a passionate Indigenous woman on her unconventional journey into politics, wherein she reckons with her own troubled past while juggling obligations to her family, culture and to a government that has never met anybody quite like her." William Jehu Garroutte penned the pilot and will executive produce alongside Jessica Goldberg, Peter Traugott, Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Darren Dale, Miranda Dear and Rachel Griffiths (who starred in the original series) for Universal Television, ABC Signature, Blackella Films and Keshet Studios. (Variety.com)
DUSTER (HBO Max) - Josh Holloway is set to star in the J.J. Abrams-produced drama, which is set in the 1970's Southwest, and follows the life of a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate goes from awful to wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful. (Variety.com)
FIRST LADY, THE (Showtime) - Lexi Underwood has been cast as Malia Obama opposite Viola Davis' Michelle Obama and O-T Fagbenle's Barack Obama in the anthology series. (Deadline.com)
LAST DAYS OF PTOLEMY GREY, THE (Apple) - Actor Dominique Fishback and director Ramin Bahrani have both signed onto the six-episode series starring Samuel L. Jackson. Fishback will play Robyn, "a friend of the family who helps Ptolemy (Jackson)." Bahrani then will helm and executive produce alongside Walter Mosley, David Levine, Eli Selden, Diane Houslin and LaTanya Richardson Jackson. (Deadline.com)
LONG SLOW EXHALE (Spectrum) - Famke Janssen has signed onto the Rose Rollins/Josh Lucas-led drama as Dr. Melinda Barrington, "Chancellor of the University." (Deadline.com)
LOST OLLIE (Netflix) - The live-action/animation hybrid series has cast Jonathan Groff as Ollie, "a handmade toy rabbit stitched together from odds and ends"; Mary J. Blige as Rosy, "a raggedy teddy bear stitched together from other toys"; Tim Blake Nelson as Zozo, "a clown doll who is an old toy and an even older soul"; Gina Rodriguez as Momma, "Billy's mother Sharon is a loving woman who inspires creativity and imagination in her son"; Jake Johnson as Daddy, "Billy's father James is overworked and stressed, doing his best to take care of Billy and his wife"; and Kesler Talbot as Billy, "a young boy with a mind bursting with creativity." (Deadline.com)
POWERPUFF GIRLS, THE (The CW) - Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault have booked the title roles in the live-action series pilot. Bennet will portray Blossom Utonium: "Although she was a spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees, Blossom's repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again - this time on her own terms." Cameron is Bubbles Utonium. "Her sweet-girl disposition won America's hearts as a child, and she still sparkles as an adult, but her charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit. She's initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself." And Perrault is Buttercup Utonium: "She was the rebellious badass of the Powerpuff Girls in its heyday. More sensitive than her tough exterior suggests, Buttercup has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life." (Deadline.com)
QUEENS (ABC) - Nadine Velazquez will round out the central quartet in the drama pilot as Valeria, aka Butter Pecan: "Better known in the 90s as Puerto Rican rapper, Butter Pecan, Valeria is the fourth member of the hip-hop group, the Nasty Bitches. Valeria wasn't an original member, added by the groups' manager, Eric, for her effortless star quality. It worked. The ladies catapulted into superstardom with a number-one record and iconic video. Valeria quickly became the face of the group, ruffling the other members' feathers along the way. But she could care less. She's not here for friends, she's here to win. Valeria is an ambitious and ruthless hustler with cunning charm born out of a difficult childhood. When we catch up with her twenty years later, she's the only member of the group still in the limelight. Valeria hosts The Shade - America's top-rated morning talk show. So, Valeria has no reason to reunite with the group when the opportunity arises. However, when her blind ambition trips her up, Valeria considers turning back to the only family she's ever had: the Nasty Bitches." (Deadline.com)
SLAM! (HBO Max, New!) - Pamela Ribon is developing an animated series for the streamer based on her and Veronica Fish's graphic novel "set in the fast-paced, hard-hitting, super-cheeky, all-female world of banked track roller derby, follows two young women who will have to decide if their budding friendship is stronger than the pull of a team when a win is on the line." Minnow Mountain's Craig Staggs and Steph Swope are spearheading the animation for Rooster Teeth Studios and Boom! Studios. (Deadline.com)
WIVES, THE (Amazon, New!) - Kayla Alpert has landed a TV take on Tarryn Fisher's bestselling novel at Amazon Studios, billed as "a gripping, saucy, female-driven thriller featuring "Thursday," a woman who is passionately in love with her husband Seth - even though he has two other wives. Seth reserves Thursdays for her and splits the rest of the week between the other two women and work. She's never met the other wives. She doesn't know anything about them. But when curiosity gets the best of her, and she strikes up a relationship with Seth's youngest wife, she'll be forced to ask herself: Who exactly is her husband, and how far will she go to find out the truth?" Patrick Moran of PKM Productions will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
