BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Executive producer Craig Rosenberg is spearheading a spin-off series at the streaming service, detailed as: "Set at America's only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International), the Untitled Boys Spinoff is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games - with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys." Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures Television, Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film will co-produce with Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
CENTRAL AVE (Syndication) - The newsmagazine series, hosted by Julissa Bermudez and Sanya Richards-Ross, will formally roll out this Saturday. Look for two original half-hour episodes each week. (@centralavetv)
KNICK, THE (Cinemax) - Barry Jenkins and co-star André Holland are reportedly looking to revive the series for a third season. No network was indicated. Original co-creators Jack Amiel and Michael Begler have already written a pilot episode while Steven Soderbergh would return as an executive producer but not direct. (ThePlayList.net)
MASON DIXON (ABC) - Writer Julian Breece and director Lee Daniels have revived their FOX drama at the Alphabet, which has commissioned two backup scripts to be co-written by Breece and Micah Schraft. In the project, "in the wake of their spouses' cheating scandal and untimely deaths, Angela Dixon, a beloved and liberal politician's wife, and Paul Mason, a brash and conservative good ole boy, form an unlikely alliance that blends their families and shakes up a community divided by race and class." Lee Daniels Entertainment's Marc Velez will also executive produce alongside Breece and Daniels for 20th Television. Schraft serves as a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
SIMPSONS, THE (FOX) - Alex Désert will lend his voice to Carl Carlson on the veteran series, succeeding Hank Azaria in the role, at least for that episode. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED SABRINA JALEES PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Sabrina Jalees has sold a multi-camera comedy to the Alphabet about "first-time-parents Sam and Bertie, whose lives take a turn when Alex (their spontaneous biological-donor-daddy) pays them a visit and unexpectedly becomes a part of their lives." Sam Saifer is also executive producing for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
WOMAN IN THE BOOK (Facebook Watch, New!) - Crypt TV has booked its first animated horror series at the streaming service which "follows the lives of three estranged siblings who reunite at an aging Mexican hacienda to wrestle for their inheritance, but inadvertently unleash a book-bound horror upon them that has plagued their family for generations." Diane Guerrero, Alfonso Herrera, Jose Ruiz-Gonzales and Bryan Greenberg will voice the project, with Daniel Persitz, Eva Gonzalez Szigriszt and Pamela Garcia Rooney as writers; Jeanette Moreno King and Jeanette Jeanenne as directors; Jack Davis, Kate Krantz, Darren Brandl, Simon Ore, James Fino and Paul Young as executive producers; Mike Griffin as a co-executive producer; and Allison Vanore and Justin Martinez, who were behind the original 2016 Crypt TV digital series, as co-producers. Production will begin later this month, with Starburns Industries handling the animation, for an early summer 2021 premiere. (Deadline.com)
