9-1-1 (FOX) - John Harlan Kim's Albert Kim, "the younger half-brother of firefighter Howie "Chimney" Kim (Kenneth Choi)," has been promoted to regular for the show's upcoming fourth season. (Variety.com)
BIOHACKERS (Netflix) - The German series has quietly been renewed for a second season with filming set to begin in the coming months in Freiburg and Munich. (Deadline.com)
INVASION (A.K.A. UNTITLED KINBERG & WEIL PROJECT) (Apple TV+) - Sam Neill, Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Firas Nassar and Shioli Kutsuna are set to star in the project, which is "set across multiple continents and follows an alien invasion through multiple perspectives around the world." Neill will play John Bell Tyson, "a weathered rural lawman on the verge of retirement"; with Anderson as Trevante Ward, "an extraordinary soldier stationed in Afghanistan"; Farahani as Aneesha Malik, "first generation Syrian immigrant, wife and mother living in Long Island"; Nassar as Ahmed Malik, "Aneesha's husband and a Syrian immigrant and successful businessman"; and Kutsuna as Mitsuki, "an intelligent member of mission control in Japan's space program JASA." Filming is now underway in New York, Manchester, Morocco and Japan with Jakob Verbruggen serving as director and executive producer alongside Simon Kinberg, David Weil, Audrey Chon, Amy Kaufman, Andrea Baldwin and Elisa Ellis. JUNGLE (Amazon, New!) - Chas Appeti and Junior Okoli's Nothing Lost banner has booked six half-hour episodes of a new series at the streaming service which "follows the connected lives of two separate strangers, each facing their own struggles, viewed through the prism of UK grime and drill music, and giving a perspective of inner city London." No other specifics were given. (Deadline.com)
MULTIVORCE, THE (CBSAA, New!) - Kirker Butler and Scott Mosier are set to team for a potential adult animated series at the streaming service about "the Gundersons, a seemingly normal American family: mother, father, three kids dealing with the complicated realities of divorce. However, instead of the kids having to spend every other weekend at their father's shitty bachelor apartment across town, they spend every other weekend with their warrior queen mother in her very exciting (and often very dangerous) kingdom somewhere in the Multivorce." The project is set up at CBS Television Studios with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
SPHERE (HBO, New!) - Denise Thé has set up a small screen take on Michael Crichton's novel at the pay channel which "plunges us one thousand feet into the ocean, where a group of scientists confronts the surreal, beautiful, and deadly mysteries of the universe, only to find the people closest to us may prove to be the most alien." Warner Bros. Television is behind the project with Kilter Films' Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Athena Wickham and Team Downey's Robert Downey Jr, Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell also executive producing. Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson starred in Barry Levinson's 1998 film incarnation. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED STUDIO LAMBERT PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - The company has commissioned eight episodes of an "immersive reality dating format" in which "a group of unlucky-in-love Brits attempt to find love by going back to school - or more precisely an American high school out of a classic movie." Tim Harcourt is executive producing for Studio Lambert. (Deadline.com)
