AMAZING RACE, THE (CBS) - The Eye has temporarily shut down production on the current season of the series. "Due to increased concerns and uncertainty regarding the coronavirus around the world, CBS and the producers of 'The Amazing Race' have taken the precautionary measure of temporarily suspending production on the 33rd season of the series," a CBS spokesperson told the publication. (Variety.com)
BILLIONS (Showtime) - Akili McDowell is the latest set to recur on the new season as Savion Williams, "a young kid growing up in Axe's (Damian Lewis) childhood hometown." (Deadline.com)
ECHO (NBC) - Janina Gavankar is set to star in the high-concept drama pilot as Mel Goodwin, "a police officer who's driven and eager to prove herself." (Deadline.com)
EQUALIZER, THE (CBS) - Lorraine Toussaint is bound for the Queen Latifah-led reboot series pilot as Frieda "Aunt Fry" Lascombe, "Robyn's aunt and her rock who's been living with Robyn and her daughter, Delilah, since Robyn's divorce. She has an undeniable wisdom and is a truth-teller who tends to be a wary optimist." (Deadline.com)
GHOSTS (CBS) - Brandon Scott Jones is the first to be cast in the Eye's import of the BBC One comedy as Isaac, "a well-meaning but pompous and long-winded Militiaman and statesman who died in the late 1700s of dysentery." (Variety.com)
GOOD SAM (CBS) - Sophia Bush has scored the title role on the drama pilot as Sam, who "works in the same hospital as her domineering father, Griff, who is impossible to please and never acknowledged her talents. Second in command to him and always in his shadow, Sam rises to the occasion when he falls into a coma and she takes charge of the department as chief of surgery. Sam comes into her own professionally and personally, however, when her world is upturned again after Griff awakens and wants to practice again, even if it means being supervised by his daughter." JEFFERIES (NBC) - Anthony LaPaglia is the latest bound for the Jim Jefferies-led multi-camera comedy pilot as Trevor, "Jim's dad who is a recent widower and has moved into Jim's guest house." (Deadline.com)
LUCIFER (Netflix) - Co-showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have closed new deals with Warner Bros. Television to remain at the helm of the series for a potential sixth season extension. Next up: actor Tom Ellis, whom is in negotiations to return. (TVLine.com)
MAVERICK (The CW) - Reina Hardesty, Nandy Martin and Zainne Saleh have all been cast in the drama pilot, which has also added Larry Teng as a director and co-executive producer. Hardesty is playing Kit, who "was raised in a family of wealth and power. Intelligent and an inquisitive dreamer, she finds her relationship and alliance with her family's beliefs starting to change after she moves out to begin her first year in college." Martin then is Vanessa: "Smart and tough, Vanessa is Kit's new roommate at Georgetown and has no fear of speaking her mind. She constantly fights for the underdogs because she is one herself, even as she hides some of her own insecurities." And Saleh is Cara: "A sophomore at the University, Cara knows more of the cruelties of the world than she lets on. She's been marginalized and is ready to fight back against the government by using her fearless ability to hack any system." (Deadline.com)
SWIMMING WITH SHARKS (Quibi) - Erika Alexander, Gerardo Celasco and Ross Butler have all booked roles on the film-turned-TV series. Alexander will play Meredith, "a best-selling author who is being wooed for the rights to her books"; with Celasco as Miles, "a moderately talented artist and the husband of Joyce Holt (the big moneymaker in the household)"; and Butler as Alex, "a burnt-out, Harvard educated assistant supporting Joyce." UMBRELLA ACADEMY, THE (Netflix) - Executive producer Steve Blackman has closed a multi-year overall deal with the streaming service, where he'll continue as showrunner and develop new series projects via his Borderline Entertainment banner. (Deadline.com)
WALKER (The CW) - Coby Bell is the latest cast in the "Walker, Texas Ranger" reboot series as Larry James, "a Texas Ranger Captain, a trailblazer in his division, confident, sharp as a razor. Captain James, as the only African American man in the Austin headquarters and one of only a few in the entire Ranger division, has true grit and a wry sense of humor." (Deadline.com)
Y (FX) - Ben Schnetzer has been cast in the "Y: The Last Man" adaptation as the titular Yorick Brown. He replaces Barry Keoghan, who recently bowed out of the project. (Deadline.com)
