BOLD TYPE, THE (Freeform) - Chord Overstreet will drop by the upcoming 18-episode season as Evan, "Jane's beloved older brother who is similarly type A. As a little sister, Jane has always looked up to her brother and is excited to welcome him to New York. But most importantly, she's excited to introduce her brother to the other important man in her life - Ryan." (EW.com)
CAMPING (HBO) - Jenni Konner has signed a multi-year overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios where she'll develop new series on an exclusive basis. (Deadline.com)
CHINATOWN (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service has commissioned a pilot script for a prequel series to the 1974 classic film about "a private eye hired to expose an adulterer who instead uncovers far more unsavory things." Said effort would follow "a young Jake Gittes (played in the film by Jack Nicholson) as he plies his business in a town where the wealthy and corruption involves areas like land, oil and gangs." Robert Towne, David Fincher and Josh Donen are on board to executive produce with Towne and Fincher presumably writing the script. (Deadline.com)
CLASSIFIED (HBO Max, New!) - David Sidorov is developing a CIA-set series at the streaming service billed as "a workplace comedy about interns at the much covered foreign intelligence agency." Paramount Television is producing. No other specifics were given. (Variety.com)
DAISY JONES & THE SIX (Amazon) - Riley Keough has scored the title role on the Taylor Jenkins Reid-book-turned-drama series, about Daisy Jones (Keough), "a spirited and enigmatic singer-songwriter who comes of age and rises to rock superstardom against the backdrop of the 1970s L.A. music scene." In addition, Niki Caro has signed on to executive produce and direct the debut installment. (Deadline.com)
NICK CANNON (A.K.A. UNTITLED NICK CANNON PROJECT) (Syndication) - The Nick Cannon-hosted talk show is officially a go for a September 2020 launch on the Fox Television Stations group. Debmar-Mercury is producing the project, which will originate from New York City. (Deadline.com)
ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO (The CW) - Jamie Clayton is bound for the new season as Agent Grace Powell, "who arrives in Roswell to investigate a string of disappearances." (EW.com)
TEXT ME WHEN YOU GET HOME (ABC, New!) - Lauren Caltagirone has landed a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet about "the unique and complicated bonds amongst women who grow up but never grow apart, even when your married friends completely forget what it was like to be single and try to set you up with a guy who has no neck." The project is based on Kayleen Schaefer's book of the same name with Bowen & Sons' Julie Bowen and Rachael Field also executive producing for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
TURNERS, THE (ABC, New!) - Naomi Ekperigin has booked a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet about "a close-knit family of black doctors faces major changes when the recently retired parents decide to get back into the workforce. Now, three siblings at the height of their success are forced to work alongside their parents, and assert their independence everywhere from the emergency room to the living room." The project, which has a penalty attached, is set up at CBS Television Studios, WV Entertainment and Two Shakes Entertainment. Wilmer Valderrama and Damon Wayans Jr. will also executive produce with Kaitlin Saltzman, Jessica Acevedo and Kameron Tarlow serving as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UNMATCHED (Quibi, New!) - Allen Strickland Williams has sold a comedy series to the short-form stream service "which takes place in a comedic future where the most powerful company ever has created a dating app that matches you with your perfect soulmate." The project then "follows four roommates who live in this brave new world who decide to live a life of hooking up instead of settling down." Scott Aukerman and David Jargowsky of Comedy Bang! Bang! Productions will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CASE, CHAN & WHITE PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Chris Case, Aliee Chan and Adrienne Rose White are set to team for a multi-camera comedy at the Eye about "two young women who hatch an outrageous plan to raise capital for their new sports app after repeatedly being turned down by investors." The project is set up at CBS Television Studios with A Bird and A Bear Productions' Cedric the Entertainer and Eric Rhone; and Avalon Television's Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, David Martin, Jakob Markovits and Aaron Brown also executive producing. UNTITLED SCOTT ECKERT PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Scott Eckert has sold a single-camera project to the network billed as "a workplace comedy centered around the misfit crew of a nuclear submarine." Stun's Brad Roth, Mark Feldstein and Jeremy Colfer; and Counterbalance Entertainment's Dina Hillier, Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg will also executive produce for Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment. Y (FX) - Melina Matsoukas, the pilot's director, has signed a first-look deal with producer FX Productions. The pact gives the studio first crack at the helmer's output. (Deadline.com)
