FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN, THE (FOX, New!) - The network has given a script-to-series commitment to a small screen take on Mitch Albom's bestselling novel, which "will explore each character's unique journey in this world and the next. With heaven as the place where your life is finally explained to you - by five people you touched - the ongoing storylines of interwoven characters will explore larger themes such as redemption, love, hope and human connection." Albom himself is penning the project with Keith Eisner also executive producing for Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment. Albom previously penned a TV movie based on the book for ABC in 2004. (Deadline.com)
I MOM SO HARD (ABC, New!) - The Alphabet is taking a new stab at a TV series based on Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley's web series of the same name. Warner Bros. Television is behind the project, which was previously shot as a pilot for CBS in 2018. The revised take "will see Smedley and Hensley continue to push comedic boundaries with their unapologetically honest take on marriage and motherhood, proving that friendship is the secret sauce." Hensley and Smedley will once again co-write and co-executive produce the half-hour alongside Michelle Nader with Nader, Danielle Stokdyk and Rob Thomas serving as executive producers. (Variety.com)
LEGACIES (The CW) - Bianca Kajlich will recur on the new season as Sheriff Mac, who "stands as the human line of defense in a town regularly besieged by monsters. Despite a troubled past, she's willing to open herself up to a new romance when the opportunity arises." (TVLine.com)
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (NBC) - Leslie Jones is departing the series after five seasons while Kate McKinnon has signed on to return for an eighth go-round. Jones is currently attached to a proposed reboot of "Supermarket Sweep," with ABC, NBC, FOX and Netflix among the reported bidders. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED AJAY SAHGAL PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Ajay Sahgal has sold a new multi-camera comedy to the Eye about "a successful workaholic who begins making big changes in his life to try to win back his wife after his marriage falls apart." CBS Television Studios is behind the project, alongside Wendi Trilling's TrillTV and Dana Honor and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MARK GROSS PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Mark Gross has likewise set up at multi-camera comedy at the Eye about "three strangers in their mid-20s who end up sharing an apartment in NYC while they pursue their dreams." CBS Television Studios is behind the half-hour, as are Wendi Trilling's TrillTV and Dana Honor and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SARAH HYLAND PROJECT (ABC, New!) - "Modern Family" co-star Sarah Hyland is set to topline a new multi-camera comedy at the network inspired by Hyland and writer Emily V. Gordon's real-life experiences. No other plot specifics were given about the 20th Century Fox Television-based project, which has a put pilot commitment. The Walk Up Company's Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will executive produce alongside Gordon, Hyland and Adam Londy. (Deadline.com)
WILL & GRACE (NBC) - Demi Lovato has booked a three-episode arc on the show's final season as Jenny, "a guarded gal who comes into the life of Will (Eric McCormack) in an unexpected way." (EW.com)
ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST (NBC) - Lauren Graham has joined the cast of the midseason drama as Joan, "the boss of Jane Levy's titular computer coder." She replaces Carmen Cusack from the original pilot in a reported one-year deal. (TVLine.com)
