CAKE (FXX, New!) - The cable channel will roll out a new late-night entry in September which will contain animation as well as live-action short-form programming. "'Cake' will be "its own unique series as well as incubator for shorter shows that could be developed into half-hour series," John Landgraf said. "We think there is some truly superb and original creative work being done in short form, and 'Cake' on FXX will be a fantastic medium to highlight some of the best of it." (Deadline.com)
DEPUTY (FOX) - Executive producer Kim Harrison has been named the new showrunner of the midseason drama, succeeding Barry Schindel. Schindel and creator Will Beall will remain executive producers on the series but "are not expected to have day-to-day involvement." Additionally, John Coveny has joined the series as a co-executive producer. No other details about the changes were given. (Deadline.com)
FBI (CBS) - John Boyd has been tapped for a three-episode arc as Agent Stuart Scola: "He's handsome, smart and irreverent and had a prior relationship with Jubal (Jeremy Sisto)." Said role has an option to become a series regular. (Deadline.com)
FEAR THE WALKING DEAD (AMC) - Holly Curran will recur on the current season in a top-secret role. (Deadline.com)
FRESH OFF THE BOAT (ABC) - Rachna Fruchbom is reportedly spearheading a potential spin-off of the series, which "is said to feature a new immigrant family, likely from another country." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the project, which has yet to be pitched to ABC. Fruchbom, Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar are expected to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
JERRY O (Syndication) - Brandon Monk has been named executive producer of Jerry O'Connell's upcoming talk show, which debuts Monday, August 12 for a three-week preview on Fox Television Stations. (Deadline.com)
MADAM SECRETARY (CBS) - Co-star Sara Ramirez, who plays political strategist Kat Sandoval, will not return for the series' final season as a regular. (Deadline.com)
OUR KIND OF PEOPLE (FOX) - The network is taking another stab at bringing Lawrence Otis Graham's book to the small screen, subtitled "Inside America's Black Upper Class." Karin Gist is behind the new take, which she'll executive produce via her TheGistOfIt banner alongside Lee Daniels, Pam Williams and Marc Velez of Lee Daniels Entertainment; and Propagate's Howard T. Owens, Jay Weisleder and Rodney Ferrell for 20th Century Fox Television. Wendy Calhoun was behind the previous incarnation in 2017, while original executive producers Ben Silverman and Montrel McKay remain attached. (Deadline.com)
REPRISAL (Hulu) - Bethany Anne Lind has snagged a recurring role on the upcoming femme fatale thriller as Molly Quinn: "Having long been known as the friendliest person in the whole wide world, Molly Quinn's kindness has been stifled in recent years due to the oppressive nature of her alcoholic, two-bit gangster of a husband. However, as she unexpectedly tags along on Doris' quest for revenge, she will emerge from her husband's tyranny to find the strength, and the downright courage, that she's been suppressing for far too long." (Deadline.com)
TABOO (FX) - The show's second season - commissioned back in March of 2017 - remains in limbo due to star Tom Hardy's availability. "It really just comes down to Tom; it comes down to what Tom wants to do, when he wants to do it, when he is available," John Landgraf said. "I could see both those seasons getting made and relatively soon, and I could see neither of those seasons getting made." (Deadline.com)
