ARCHIBALD'S NEXT BIG THING (Netflix) - Rosamund Pike, Adam Pally, Chelsea Kane, Jordan Fisher and Kari Wahlgren will join Tony Hale as part of his animated series for the streaming service, about Archibald (Hale), an extraordinary young chicken who lives in the moment and "yes-ands" his way through life. Pike will voice the sarcastic Narrator; with Pally as Sage, "Archibald's older brother who adores the outdoors"; Kane as Archibald's sister Loy, "a science whiz and master inventor"; Fisher as Finly, "Archibald's singing, dancing and all-around-artistic brother"; and Wahlgren as Bea, "Archibald's best pal and sidekick who speaks in a language only he can understand." Executive producer Eric Fogel and writers Drew Champion and Jacob Moffat are behind the project. (Deadline.com)
AWKWAFINA (Comedy Central) - Jonathan Park (aka rapper Dumbfoundead) is set to recur on the comedy series as Nora's (Awkwafina) friend Doug. (Deadline.com)
BARKSKINS (NGC) - The Annie Proulx adaptation has cast Kaniehtiio Horn as Mari, "a Wendat Nation woman married to Trepagny (David Thewlis) and her alliance with him keeps both the French and Wendat communities safe from a mutual enemy"; with Zahn McClarnon as Yvon, "a Harvard educated First Nations Hudson's Bay Company man"; Lily Sullivan as Delphine, "a hopeful and devoted Fille Du Roy, a real program where young French women got to pick a husband (of their choosing) to populate and settle the new land"; and David Wilmot as Captain Bouchard, "the king's local law man." DEMIMONDE (HBO) - Bash Doran has bowed out as showrunner of the sci-fi fantasy drama. No reason was given. The search is underway for a replacement. (Deadline.com)
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR (Netflix) - The streaming service has pulled the plug on the former ABC series after three seasons. "We are proud to have offered fans a third season of Designated Survivor, and will continue to carry all three seasons for years to come," Netflix said in a statement. "We're especially thankful to star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, who brought passion, dedication and an unforgettable performance as President Kirkman. We're also grateful to showrunner/executive producer Neal Baer for his guiding vision and steady hand, creator/executive producer David Guggenheim and EPs Mark Gordon, Suzan Bymel, Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood and Peter Noah along with the cast and crew who crafted a compelling and satisfying final season." GET SHORTY (Epix) - Luis Moncada is the latest to recur on the show's third season as Queso, "a lieutenant in the Capotillo Cartel that controls crime in Los Angeles and butts heads with Yago, who is newly released from prison after the events of season two." (Deadline.com)
HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, THE (Hulu, New!) - Carlton Cuse and Jason Fuchs are spearheading a new small screen take on the famed Douglas Adams novel, which "follows the intergalactic adventures of Arthur Dent, a hapless Englishman, following the destruction of Earth by the Vogons, a race of unpleasant and bureaucratic aliens." The project is set up at Cuse's ABC Signature-based Genre Arts banner with Fuchs penning the script and Lindsey Springer likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
HOW TO MAKE LOVE TO A BLACK WOMAN (Showtime) - Naima Ramos-Chapman has been tapped to direct Casallina "Cathy" Kisakye's comedy pilot, in which each multi-part episode unfolds a new collection of characters in an authentic world, telling stories about connection and rejection that explore our most harrowing - and harrowingly comic - sexual secrets. INSECURE (HBO) - Issa Rae has confirmed the show's fourth season has been expanded to 10 episodes with filming targeted to begin in September. (Deadline.com)
LOS ESPOOKYS (HBO) - The pay channel has commissioned a second season of the comedy series, from Fred Armisen, Ana Fabrega and Julio Torres. (Deadline.com)
TOM CLANCY'S JACK RYAN (Amazon) - John Krasinski has signed a three-year first-look deal with Amazon Studios. The pact gives the company first crack at Krasinski's TV output. (Deadline.com)
TUCA & BERTIE (Netflix) - The network has likewise axed the animated comedy starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong. "Lisa Hanawalt created a relatable yet whimsical world in Tuca & Bertie," Netflix said in a statement. "We're grateful to Lisa, and her fellow executive producers Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, and EPs/stars Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, along with all of the writers and animators for sharing the funny and dynamic female bird duo of Tuca and Bertie with the world. While Tuca & Bertie won't have a second season, we're proud to feature this story on Netflix for years to come." (Deadline.com)
WHY WOMEN KILL (CBS) - Director Marc Webb has signed a three-year, eight-figure overall deal with ABC Studios, ending his run at CBS Television Studios. There he'll develop new series projects via his Black Lamb banner. (Deadline.com)
