AGE OF SAMURAI: BATTLE FOR JAPAN (Netflix, New!) - Cream Productions has set up a new docu-drama series at the streaming service which will "explore the warring kingdoms of feudal Japan when several powerful warlords fought to become absolute ruler. It brings to life a cast of characters in an epic struggle through stylized drama that will pay homage to the noir of graphic novels and Japanese art." Simon George, David Brady, Kate Harrison and Matthew Booi are the executive producers of the project, which is currently in production to premiere later this year. (Deadline.com)
INDUSTRY (HBO) - Lena Dunham has signed on to direct and executive produce the long-in-the-works drama, which has received an eight-episode order. Production is expected to begin in Cardiff, Wales later this summer. (Deadline.com)
LOVECRAFT COUNTRY (HBO) - Abbey Lee, Jamie Chung and Jordan Patrick Smith have all been cast in the upcoming drama. Chung then will play Ji-Ah," a seemingly naive nursing student who is thrust into active service when war breaks out, and a rash of soldier disappearances suggests she is more than what she seems"; while Smith is William, "Christina's henchmen, lover, bodyguard, spy, and anything else she needs him to be when she needs him to be it." Additionally, Daniel Sackheim has signed on as an executive producer and director. (Deadline.com)
OZARK (Netflix) - Tom Pelphrey, Jessica Frances Dukes, Joseph Sikora and Felix Solis have all scored roles on the show's third season. Additionally, Lisa Emery and Janet McTeer have been promoted to series regulars. Pelphrey will play Ben Davis, "Wendy's capricious younger brother"; with Dukes as FBI agent and forensic accountant Maya Miller; Sikora as Frank Cosgrove, Jr., "the hotheaded son of Kansas City mob boss Frank Cosgrove"; and Solis as Omar Navarro, "the ruthless leader of Mexico's second largest drug cartel." (Deadline.com)
RIGHT STUFF, THE (NGC) - Jake McDorman, Joe Dempsie, Aaron Staton, Michael Trotter, Micah Stock and James Lafferty are set to star opposite Patrick J. Adams in the upcoming astronaut drama. McDorman portrays Alan Shepard, "one of the best test pilots in Navy history, who is furiously competitive"; with Dempsie as Gordon Cooper, "the youngest of the seven who was selected to everyone's surprise"; Staton as Wally Schirra, "a competitive pilot with a gift for pulling pranks"; Lafferty as Scott Carpenter, "a soulful man who was dubbed 'The Poet' by the other astronauts"; Stock as Deke Slayton, "a taciturn but incredibly intelligent pilot and engineer"; and Trotter as Gus Grissom, "a no-nonsense test pilot who eventually becomes the second man in space." (Deadline.com)
TICK, THE (Amazon) - Executive producer Ben Edlund has indicated the series could not find a new home following Amazon's cancellation. (@ben_edlund)
