|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
CHICAGO MED (NBC) - Michael Pressman has been tapped as executive producer/in-house director for the show's recently ordered fifth season. (Deadline.com)
CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA/RIVERDALE (Netflix/The CW) - Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has reportedly signed a massive five-year, eight-figure overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind both properties. The pact covers his duties on said efforts as well as any future development via his Muckle Man Productions banner, which includes the CW pilot "Katy Keene." (Deadline.com)
FRIENDS-IN-LAW (NBC) - Michael Urie, Zach Cregger, Vella Lovell and Gil Ozeri are set to star in the Peacock's new take on the multi-camera comedy pilot, which centers on Brian (Urie) and Jake (Cregger), polar opposites who must quickly figure out how to coexist when their respective best friends Margaret (Lovell) and Randy (Ozeri) decide to get married. Devere Rogers, James Davis, Nicole Parker and John Gemberling played said roles in last year's incarnation. (Deadline.com)
NCIS: LOS ANGELES (CBS) - Catherine Bell will reunite with her "JAG" co-star David James Elliott for the show's final two episodes this season and the first two installments next season. She'll reprise her "JAG" role of Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie alongside Elliott's Harmon "Harm" Rabb, Jr., who both helped launch the "NCIS" franchise back in 2003. (Deadline.com)
ONE DAY AT A TIME (Netflix) - CBS All Access reportedly has been in talks to land the comedy series following its cancellation. A deal however appears unlikely "because of the conditions in the show's Netflix deal that do not allow a Netflix original series to continue on another SVOD service for years after its cancellation (though it could jump to a broadcast or cable network in a few months)." (Deadline.com)
RUPAUL (UNTITLED RUPAUL PROJECT) (Syndication) - RuPaul Charles's syndicated talk show has been cleared for a three-week test run on Fox Television Stations - including WNYW in New York and KTTV in Los Angeles - beginning June 10. Jill Van Lokeren, Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Tom Campbell are the executive producers for World of Wonder Productions and Telepictures. (Deadline.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Melanie Liburd, who plays Beth's cousin Zoe, will no longer return as a series regular following the events of tonight's season finale. (Deadline.com)
UNDOING, THE (HBO) - Noma Dumezweni has been cast as Haley Gibson on the limited series, written by David E. Kelley and directed by Susanne Bier. No other specifics were given. Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland are also among the co-stars. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TOM RIPLEY PROJECT (Showtime, New!) - The pay channel is in final negotiations to land Steve Zaillian's small screen take on Patricia Highsmith's five-book series, which follows anti-hero Tom Ripley's progression from con artist to serial killer. Endemol Shine North America and Entertainment 360 are behind the project, which Zaillian "is expected to write and direct most of the first season's worth of episodes." Garrett Basch, Philipp Keel, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy and Guymon Casady also serve as executive producers. On the big screen, Matt Damon, Alain Delon, Dennis Hopper, Barry Pepper and John Malkovich are among the actors who have portrayed Ripley over the years. (Deadline.com)
