BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS, THE (Netflix) - Joel and Ethan Coen's proposed Western anthology series will instead debut as an 132-minute feature film. (Variety.com)
BLOOD & TREASURE (CBS) - Alicia Coppola is the latest to board the upcoming action-adventure drama as Dr. Ana Castilla, "a world-renowned adventurer and archeologist." (Deadline.com)
BULL (CBS) - Jill Hennessy is bound for the upcoming season as "a new client who asks Dr. Jason Bull (played by Michael Weatherly) to help her with one of the most challenging and emotional cases he has ever faced." (TVLine.com)
CONFEDERATE (HBO) - The controversial alternate history drama has had no significant movement since its original announcement back in July. "David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], they've gotta finish the final season of 'Game of Thrones,'" Casey Bloys told reporters. "Nichelle's [Tramble Spellman] got a show at Apple. Malcolm's [Spellman] got multiple projects. And of course Dan and David have the Star Wars movie. When they figure out their schedules they'll come back to us. But nothing has been written and so no change in status there." (Deadline.com)
DAISY JONES & THE SIX (Amazon, New!) - Taylor Jenkins Reid's upcoming novel - which "centers on a fictional rock band in the 1970s, following their rise through the ranks of the LA music scene and beyond, eventually becoming one of the most legendary bands in the world" - has been tapped for a 13-episode limited series at the streaming service. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber will spearhead the script with Hello Sunshine's Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter and Circle of Confusion's Brad Mendelsohn also executive producing for Amazon Studios. Reid will receive a producer credit. It's understood original music from the series will likewise be made available exclusively through Amazon Music. (Deadline.com)
DARE ME (USA) - Willa Fitzgerald, Herizen Guardiola and Marlo Kelly have scored the lead roles on the drama pilot, set in the cutthroat world of competitive high school cheerleading, following the fraught relationship between two best friends after a new coach arrives to bring their team to prominence. Fitzgerald plays Colette French, "once a star cheerleader herself, she is now a rising-star high school cheerleading coach with a reputation for building winning squads." Guardiola then is Addy Hanlon, "a yearning, ambitious high school student who dreams of using cheer to secure a college scholarship and a ticket out of her Midwestern town"; with Kelly as Beth Cassidy, "a perfect pixie cheerleader on the outside, but on the inside a rebel who knows no limits." (Deadline.com)
DEADWOOD (HBO) - The drama's long-in-the-works follow-up movie has been greenlit to begin production in October for a spring 2019 debut. Daniel Minahan is slated to direct the project from a script by creator David Milch. Back in April, the then proposed film received a near-$4.2 million tax credit from the state of California. (Deadline.com)
DIVORCE (HBO) - Liz Tuccillo has been tapped as the Sarah Jessica Parker-led comedy's new showrunner, succeeding Jenny Bicks. Additionally, the options on its cast have been extended while Tuccillo and company work on scripts for a potential third season, upon which its fate will be decided later this year. (Deadline.com)
ENEMY WITHIN, THE (NBC) - Matt Corman and Chris Ord have signed on as co-showrunners of the midseason drama. They'll work alongside creator/fellow co-showrunner Ken Woodruff. (THR.com)
FRASIER (New!) - CBS Television Studios and Kelsey Grammer are reportedly mulling a reboot of the Emmy-winning series "likely set in a new city, with the title character, played by Grammer, as a possible link." Grammer is said to be "meeting with writers who are pitching different concepts for the potential follow-up series." (Deadline.com)
MAGNUM PI (CBS) - Amy Hill will recur on the freshman drama as "the charming and irreverent Kumu, the cultural curator and de facto 'house mom' of Robin's Nest." Said role has an option to become a series regular. (Deadline.com)
PERRY MASON (HBO) - The Robert Downey, Jr.-produced reboot remains in active development at the pay channel. "We developed two really good scripts, and we are talking about, is any actor that would be great for the role," Casey Bloys told the publication. (Deadline.com)
RUNDOWN WITH ROBIN THEDE, THE (BET) - Robin Thede took to Twitter to confirm her series won't be returning for a second season. (@robinthede)
SEE (Apple) - Alfre Woodard has signed onto the Jason Momoa-led high concept drama as Paris, "an advisor and priestess." (Deadline.com)
SHARP OBJECTS (HBO) - Casey Bloys told reporters that there are no plans for a follow-up to the Amy Adams-led limited series: "It's a very dark character, very dark material. Amy doesn't want to live in this character again and I can't blame her, it's a lot to take on for an actress." (Deadline.com)
TALKING DEAD (AMC) - Chris Hardwick will resume hosting duties on the after show following "a comprehensive assessment" by AMC into "allegations of sexual assault and emotional abuse by an ex-girlfriend." As previously announced, Yvette Nicole Brown will host "The Walking Dead's" season preview special on August 5 with Hardwick due back on August 12 for the return of "Fear the Walking Dead." (Deadline.com)
VEEP (HBO) - Production on the show's seventh and final season is scheduled to begin this fall for a spring 2019 premiere. Filming had been pushed following Julia Louis-Dreyfus's cancer surgery and treatment. (Deadline.com)
