Food Network Launches New Snapchat Show "Chopped U" Headlined By Lazarus Lynch

Chopped U, Snapchat's First Cooking Show, Premieres Sunday, March 18 at 6 a.m. ET

NEW YORK - March 16, 2018 - Food Network announced today the launch of its first original Snapchat Show, Chopped U, headlined by Lazarus Lynch of Food Network's digital series Comfort Nation. Produced exclusively for Snapchat, the first episode of Chopped U premieres Sunday, March 18 at 6 a.m. ET. New episodes of the six-week Show air Sundays on Snapchat's Discover page, and previously released episodes will be available using Snapchat's Search feature. Chopped U will be available to Snapchatters in all English-speaking countries and select additional countries worldwide.

Chopped U pins two young food aficionados in direct culinary competition to battle it out in the kitchen. Contestants are given 30 minutes and four mystery ingredients to create a delicious and unique dish, to be judged by Lazarus, who is also a Chopped Champion.

"Chopped is an example of crowd-pleasing, premium content that has long attracted a devoted and loyal following," said Vikki Neil, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Discovery's Lifestyle Digital Studios. "Snapchat's platform allows us to bring this beloved show to a new mobile-first format, making it more accessible to our millennial and centennial audience."

"Chopped U is Snapchat's first cooking Show and we're excited to reimagine this franchise for our audience," said Vanessa Guthrie, partner lead for Snapchat Shows. "Food Network has been a tremendous partner from the beginning and we're thrilled to continue our work together in this new format."

Over 31 million total viewers, including more than 13 million from the P25-54 demo, tune in every month to enjoy Food Network's Chopped, and the network's first Snapchat spin-off will allow a younger audience to enjoy similar content in a convenient, mobile format tailored to their tastes and viewing preferences.

Food Network was one of the original publishers for Snapchat's launch of Discover in January 2015 and has since been creating Publisher Stories for the platform. In May 2017, the network, along with sister network HGTV, expanded its relationship with Snap Inc. to also develop and produce exclusive original Shows for Snapchat.

Snapchat has 187 million daily active users worldwide, with the average Snapchatter visiting the app approximately 25 times a day for an average of 30 minutes. Over 10 billion videos are watched on Snapchat every day.
