AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE (ABC) - Executive producers Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz have signed a new three-year overall deal with ABC Studios. Additionally, Nathan Fillion will guest as himself in two episodes this season. (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN VANDAL (Netflix) - Travis Tope and Melvin Gregg have both been cast in the show's second season as high school juniors: "Tope portrays the fedora-wearing, pocket-watch carrying Ethan, while Gregg's DeMarcus is a top basketball player." (Deadline.com)
CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA, THE (Netflix) - Ross Lynch has been tapped for a lead role on Archie Comics adaptation, which finds Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) wrestling to reconcile her dual nature - half-witch, half-mortal - while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit. He'll play Harvey Kinkle, Sabrina's boyfriend: "The prince charming of this dark fairy tale, Harvey is the son of a coal miner, a dreamboat and a dreamer, completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart." (Deadline.com)
CODE, THE (CBS) - Anna Wood and Ato Essandoh are the latest additions to the drama pilot, in which the military's brightest minds take on our country's toughest challenges - inside the courtroom and out - where each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator - and a Marine. She's set as Maya Dobbins, "a lead defense attorney for the Judge Advocate Corps. She's experienced in court and never afraid to go up against one of her own, but that doesn't mean she won't be a team player if it means finding the truth." Essandoh then plays Trey Ferry: "Southern, stolid and wise, Major Ferry prefers to let his actions do the talking - but if a dialogue is required, he'll proudly demonstrate his impressive eloquence and tact. As an active duty Marine and a lawyer at Quantico, he pursues suspects with ferocity but makes sure his own people are held accountable." (Deadline.com)
FINEST, THE (ABC) - Leigh-Ann Rose will round out the cast of the drama pilot, which explores the lives of five African-American sisters, all officers in the NYPD, as they face the challenges of their high-risk jobs while juggling the responsibilities of marriage, motherhood and family. She'll play Nicole Kendrick, "an attractive, fit, strong-willed, tough NYPD Detective." (Deadline.com)
GONE, BABY, GONE (FOX) - April Bowlby and Christine Lahti have both scored roles in Dennis Lehane's book-turned-drama pilot, about private detectives Patrick Kenzie (Joseph Morgan) and Angela Gennaro (yet to be cast) as they right wrongs the law can't in the working-class Boston borough of Dorchester. Bowlby is set as Renee Gennaro, Angie's sister; while Lahti will play Antonia Gennaro, "Angela's politician mother." (Deadline.com)
HOMECOMING (Amazon) - Shea Whigham, Hong Chau, Jeremy Allen White and Sydney Poitier have all scored roles on the Julia Roberts-led series, a psychological thriller that centers on Heidi (Roberts), a caseworker at a secret government facility, and a soldier (Stephan James) eager to rejoin civilian life. Whigham will portray Thomas Carrasco, "an awkward bureaucrat investigating the Homecoming Transitional Support Center"; with Chau as Audrey Temple, "an ambitious assistant at Geist Emergent Group"; White as Shrier, "he and Walter were soldiers in the same unit and are now clients at the Homecoming facility"; and Poitier as Lydia, "Colin's (Bobby Cannavale) intelligent, savvy wife." (Deadline.com)
IN BETWEEN LIVES (NBC) - Cindy Luna is bound for the Harriet Dyer-led drama pilot, about a mysterious young woman who reluctantly uses her gift of clairvoyance to help a veteran LAPD detective and a damaged ex-FBI outsider solve the most unnerving and challenging cases the city encounters. She will play Jacey Vasquez, "a young detective on the LAPD Homicide Squad, eager to learn everything she can and eventually make her mark." (Deadline.com)
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (CBS) - Sarah Jones has booked the female lead on the Eye's small screen take on James Ellroy's noir classic novel-turned-feature. She'll play Lynn Bracken, "a sharp Veronica Lake-like beauty, an aspiring Hollywood actress - and not one to compromise her principles. When she finds a best friend brutally murdered and Jack Vincennes (Walton Goggins) unexpectedly at the scene before she's had time to call the police, Lynn knows she has something on the LAPD detective - and decides to use it to help solve the horrible crime." (Deadline.com)
YOUNGER (TV Land) - Christian Borle will drop by two episodes in the upcoming season as Don Ridley, "a man who intrigues Liza (Sutton Foster) with his charm. Liza will take "interest" in Don and later confide in him." (Deadline.com)
