BYUtv Expands Original Spring Programming Roster with Three New Co-Productions and Acquired Series

BBC hit show "Hetty Feather" will debut on March 18, followed by "Splat-A-Lot" and "Painting the Town with Eric Dowdle" in April

PROVO, Utah, March 13, 2018 -- BYUtv will debut a diverse slate of family programming this spring beginning with the U.S. premiere of the BBC critically acclaimed and award-winning show "Hetty Feather," a powerful period drama set in Victorian-era London based on a book by best-selling author Jacqueline Wilson. BYUtv will begin airing seasons one and two on March 18 at 6pm MT/8pm ET with two back-to-back 30-minute episodes. Seasons three and four will premiere in the fall of 2018. In addition, BYUtv has acquired "Splatalot," a medieval-themed game show with new hosts from "Studio C," Stacey Harkey and Tori Pence, set to premiere on Monday, April 2 at 6:30pm MT/8:30pm ET and "Painting the Town with Eric Dowdle," which takes viewers around the world to see the people, culture and history of the places that inspire prominent Utah folk artist Eric Dowdle, on Tuesday, April 10 at 8:30pm MT/10:30pm ET.

"These acquisitions are just the beginning of where BYUtv is heading with fresh, innovative and diverse shows," said Michael Dunn, managing director of BYUtv. "Adding new series like 'Hetty Feather,' 'Splat-A-Lot' and 'Painting the Town with Eric Dowdle,' exemplifies our commitment to programming that will connect families through unique entertainment experiences in several genre's including period dramas, game shows and unscripted series. We will continue to provide viewing experiences that will encourage our audience to 'see the good in the world'."

"HETTY FEATHER": A popular British children's drama series based on the novel by Jacqueline Wilson that follows the journey of an orphan living in a Victorian Foundling hospital in 1887. Watch and be inspired as Hetty Feather, a young girl who lost her family, discovers untold stories and truths about her past through both adventures and trials. And while she may be an orphan, that doesn't stop Hetty from finding her inner strength and creating a family of her own. "Hetty Feather" was acquired from Gaumont, the first and oldest film company in the world and originally premiered on the CBBC, the British children's channel owned by the BBC.

"SPLAT-A-LOT ": Acquired from Distribution 360, a division of Canadian production company marblemedia, new hosts, "Studio C's" Stacey Harkey and Tori Pence, will provide commentary as groups of teenagers and the Defenders fight against the clock while they compete in this medieval themed game show that features a large, extreme obstacle course and three rounds of competitions.

"PAINTING THE TOWN WITH ERIC DOWDLE": Join folk artist Eric Dowdle as he travels the world and captures the human spirit through his paintings. Originally airing on PBS, BYUtv aired the first season this past fall. Season 2 is being produced by BYUtv and will air exclusively on BYUtv.
