DEMIMONDE (HBO, New!) - The pay channel has landed J.J. Abrams's proposed "epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama," which began the rounds last month, with a series pickup. Bad Robot's Ben Stephenson will also executive produce the hour for Warner Bros. Television and HBO. Said effort is "centered around a world's battle against a monstrous, oppressive force." (Deadline.com)
GONE, BABY, GONE (FOX, New!) - Robert Levine has snagged a pilot order for a small screen take on Dennis Lehane's book-turned-feature, about "private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro who, armed with their wits, their street knowledge and an undeniable chemistry, right wrongs the law can't in the working-class Boston borough of Dorchester." Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan starred in the 2007 film. 20th Century Fox TV and Miramax TV will co-produce with both Lehane and Levine executive producing. (Deadline.com)
INFAMY (FOX) - David Elliot's legal drama is the latest to receive a pilot order from the network. Danny Strong and Stacy Greenberg also serve as executive producers for Danny Strong Productions and 20th Century Fox TV. FOX details the project as follows: "A legal drama set in an wrongful conviction firm. Led by a fierce and fearless female lawyer with a hunger for justice, the team reopens investigations, putting their own lives in danger to exonerate the innocent that were 'proven' guilty. Our lead's motivation comes from her infamous past; as a young adult she was found guilty and later exonerated in a high-profile case in which she became a tabloid sensation, household name and national celebrity. While a hero and a victim to some, her bold and bullish tactics garner her some enemies - one of whom will do anything to see her go down for a crime we know she did not commit. We will watch her defend others as she fights to maintain her own innocence."
LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET (E!) - The cable channel has finished its investigation into inappropriate behavior by host Ryan Seacrest toward a wardrobe stylist a decade ago. "E! has now concluded the investigation into allegations regarding Ryan Seacrest," a network spokesperson said in a statement. "The investigation, conducted by outside counsel, found insufficient evidence to support the claims against Seacrest and therefore could not be substantiated. E! is committed to providing a safe working environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity." (Deadline.com)
NIGHTFLYERS (Syfy) - Phillip Rhys will recur on the upcoming George R.R. Martin adaptation as Murphy, "a top systems tech engineer who is completely unnerved about learning that an L-1 telepath is also aboard the Nightflyer." (Deadline.com)
SINGLE PARENTS (A.K.A. UNTITLED MERIWETHER & PHILBIN PROJECT) (ABC) - Liz Meriwether and J.J. Philbin's single-camera comedy - about a group of single parents who lean on each other as they raise their kids and look for another chance at love (or at least sex) - has scored a pilot order from the Alphabet. 20th Century Fox TV is behind the half-hour with Katherine Pope also set to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
STEPS (A.K.A. BONUS FAMILY) (ABC) - The Alphabet has given a pilot order to a single-camera comedy based on the Swedish format "Bonus Family," about "four adults in three houses raising three kids after two divorces - together." Kristin Newman penned the half-hour for ABC Studios with Mandeville's David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks also executive producing. The studio previously set up the import at NBC in 2016 with David Walpert penning the script. (Deadline.com)
SUPERIOR DONUTS (CBS) - Shamikah Christina Martinez has been cast as Franco's (Fowler) new love interest. No other details were given about the role. (Deadline.com)
