AMERICAN ALIEN (NBC, New!) - Sierra Teller Ornelas ("Superstore") has sold a new comedy to the Peacock about Denise "Dee Dee" and Sonny Mendoza, "a small-town brother-and-sister team who struggle to keep their working-class jobs while also protecting vulnerable space aliens from everyday pitfalls in their hometown of Tucson, Arizona." America Ferrera and Teri Weinberg also serve as executive producers for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
BIG TALK (Amazon, New!) - Judah Smith and his ministry at The City Church in Beverly Hills is set to be the focus of a potential one-hour talk show at the streaming service. Entertainment 360 and Tom Forman's Critical Content are behind the project, billed as "a talk show that discusses the meaning of life instead of plugging a movie or book," which has already produced a pilot. (Variety.com)
BLUE BOOK (History) - Michael Harney and Ksenia Solo are both bound for the Aidan Gillen-led drama series. Harney will play "a USAF General who is a sage of a man with a long, decorated military career. The powerful and also morally concerned general works closely with his partner overseeing Project Blue Book, hiding the truth about UFOs from the public for reasons of national security." Solo then portray Susie: "A stylish, eye-catching young woman with an alluring confidence to envy, Susie is new in town when she becomes fast friends with Dr. Hynek's wife, Mimi (Laura Mennell). But, as the two bond over similar interests, empowering one another, we'll soon learn Susie is far more than she initially appears." (Deadline.com)
CHARLIE ROSE: THE WEEK (PBS) - The public broadcaster has announced it has cancelled distribution of Charlie Rose's series following "revelations on Monday of eight women accusing the host of unwanted sexual advances toward them." Said PBS: "In light of yesterday's revelations, PBS has terminated its relationship with Charlie Rose and cancelled distribution of his programs. PBS expects all the producers we work with to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect." (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO PD (NBC) - A report has revealed co-star Jason Beghe was the focus of an investigation by NBC and Wolf Entertainment in 2016 for "inappropriate behavior when the actor faced complaints from several members of the cast and crew that some said constituted sexual harassment." (Deadline.com)
CITY ON A HILL (Showtime) - Mark O'Brien has joined the cast of the drama pilot as Jimmy Ryan, "the younger brother of Frankie Ryan, who is the leader of the Two Saints Gang that robs banks in Boston. Jimmy has addiction problems, psychiatric problems and is generally unpredictable, unreliable and selfish. Against his better judgement, Frankie lets Jimmy join his gang on a bank job." Michael Cuesta is directing the project from a script by Chuck MacLean. Cuesta replaced Gavin O'Connor, who was originally attached. (Deadline.com)
EAST OF JINGLETOWN (TNT, New!) - Pam Veasey ("CSI: NY") has set up a potential drama at the cable channel "about four women who have formed an incredible friendship through their sons and sports. We meet them at a crossroads, and the series explores their friendship and their individual lives, and all the amazing warmth of these women's complicated relationships through the ups and downs of it all." Will Packer Media's Will Packer and Sheila Ducksworth and Makeready's Brad Weston and Scott Nemes also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
GRAND HOTEL (ABC, New!) - Brian Tanen ("Devious Maids") has sold a soapy drama to the Alphabet "set against the backdrop of a Miami Beach hotel, centering around the family who owns the business, the staff who run it, and the explosive secrets they hide under the perfect exterior." ABC Studios is behind the hour, which is based on the popular Spanish series. UnveliEVAble Entertainment's Eva Longoria and Ben Spector and Beta Film's Oliver Bachert and Christian Gockel will also executive produce. Said group reportedly set up the project last season with a different writer. (Deadline.com)
J.S.I.D. (NBC, New!) - Emmy-winner Adam Mazer (HBO's "You Don't Know Jack") has booked a legal drama at the Peacock about "L.A.'s elite unit of special DA's in the Justice System's Integrity Division who investigate and prosecute corrupt judges, politicians, cops, city officials and fellow lawyers." Craig Borten, Original Film's Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty also serve as executive producers for Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
MEXICO CITY: ONLY GOOD THINGS HAPPEN (HBO, New!) - Director Fernando Frias is set to team with writers Fred Armisen, Ana Fabrega and Julio Torres for potential Spanish-language comedy at the pay channel "set in a dreamy version of present day Mexico City, follows a group of friends obsessed with horror films and monster makeup." Broadway Video and Más Mejor are behind the half-hour with Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer likewise executive producing and Fabrega Torres and Alice Mathias as co-executive producers. Armisen, Febrega and Torres also have series regular roles. (Deadline.com)
MIRACLE WORKERS (TBS) - Sasha Compère has been cast in the upcoming comedy as Laura, "a sweet, intelligent, socially-awkward and lonely young woman who often finds herself being pushed around by her more confident and outgoing friends. When she meets Sam (Jon Bass), she feels she has found her kindred spirit, but she's too nervous to make a move and show her interest." (Variety.com)
ONE DAY SHE'LL DARKEN (TNT) - Carl Franklin has signed on to direct and executive produce two episodes of the limited series. Patty Jenkins is helming the debut installment. (Deadline.com)
QUANTICO (ABC) - Alan Powell has joined the cast of the upcoming third season as Mike McQuigg, "whom we meet undercover in a white supremacist militia, which is involved in a bioweapon attack." (Deadline.com)
TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG (Amazon) - Nell Tiger Free, John Hawkes, Cristina Rodlo, Augusto Aguilera, Babs Olusanmokun, Jena Malone, Callie Hernandez and Billy Baldwin have been revealed as cast members in Nicolas Winding Refn's upcoming series, which explores the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles by following killers' existential journeys in becoming samurai. Miles Teller was previously attached to star. No specifics about their characters were given. (Instagram.com)
UNTITLED NEAL BRENNAN PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Comedian Neal Brennan is set to host a potential weekly late-night series at the network which is "described as a topical political and cultural talk show with sketches and man on the street segments." Brennan, Craig Borders, Daniel Rappaport and Evan Silverberg of Management 360 are the executive producers for 20th Century Fox Television. A pilot presentation was reportedly shot last week for a potential spring launch. (Variety.com)
