BIG MEN (CBS, New!) - Aline Brosh McKenna and Rene Gube ("Crazy Ex-Girlfriend") are set to re-team for a single-camera comedy at the Eye about "an Asian-American rookie pro basketball player who dreams of a baller lifestyle but standing in his way are his 13-year-old twin sisters whom he co-parents with his overbearing immigrant father." CBS Television Studios is behind the half-hour, while Gube is not attached to star. (Deadline.com)
BORING, OR (ABC, New!) - Stephen Soroka has sold a single-camera comedy to the Alphabet about "a small town with a serial killer on the loose. It follows Jonna, a police officer who is determined to stop the killings while the rest of the townspeople remain dead set on not letting it affect their day-to-day lives." Eric Appel, Electric Dynamite's Jack Black and Spencer Berman are executive producing the project for ABC Studios with Soroka serving as a supervising producer. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO MED (NBC) - Malcolm McDowell is bound for the new season as Dr. Jaffrey, "a distinguished, erudite, world-renowned heart surgeon. Dr. Jaffrey also happens to be the mentor of Dr. Bekkar (Norma Kuhling), Dr. Rhodes' (Colin Donnell) new workplace rival. Dr. Bekkar was introduced at the end of season two as a new, highly competitive Cardiothoracic Fellow." (THR.com)
FIVE POINTS (Facebook, New!) - Indigenous Media has scored a 10-episode order from Watch, Facebook's new platform for original shows. The project is "set on the South Side of Chicago and takes a look at high school students from five unique points of view. When a life changing event occurs, all of these different perspectives will be necessary to understand the truth." Hayley Kiyoko and Madison Pettis star in the series with Simpson Street Productions' Kerry Washington; Indigenous Media's Jon Avnet and Jake Avnet; Rodrigo Garcia; writer Adam Giaudrone and director Thomas Carter executive producing; and Sage Scroope and Ben Fast also producing. GLOW (Netflix) - Shakira Barrera has scored a role on the show's sophomore run as Yolanda aka Yo-Yo, "a Mexican American dancer/stripper and out-and-proud lesbian who joins the team." (Deadline.com)
HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, THE (Netflix) - Paxton Singleton and Julian Hilliard are the latest bound for the Mike Flanagan-helmed adaptation of Shirley Jackson's classic 1959 novel. No specifics were given about their characters. (Deadline.com)
MAYANS MC (FX) - Danny Pino has signed onto the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off as Miguel Galinda, "the son of Galindo Cartel founder, Jose Galindo. With wit, charm and an Ivy League education, he navigates both sides of the border as effortlessly as he juggles his professional and family life. QUEEN SUGAR (OWN) - Producing director Kat Candler has been named executive producer/showrunner for the show's third season. She succeeds Monica Macer from season two and Melissa Carter from season one. Additionally, Paul Garnes has been upped from co-executive producer to executive producer and DeMane Davis will take over as producing director. (Deadline.com)
SCHOOL FOR PSYCHICS (The CW, New!) - Paul Sciarrotta ("Jane the Virgin") has set up a small screen take on K.C. Archer's upcoming book series at the netlet. The drama revolves around "an aimless, jaded young woman [who] learns she has powerful latent psychic abilities [and] is recruited to join a secret government program for gifted individuals. She must quickly hone her newfound skills to help uncover an imminent threat to psychics that has an unexpected emotional connection to the mysterious murder of her parents two decades ago." The Dan Jinks Company's Dan Jinks and Jason Egenberg will also executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
