BLOOD DRIVE (Syfy) - James Roland took to his blog with the news the series, which wrapped its freshman run tonight, has been canceled after one season. (MidnightGrindhouse.com)
HAVE MERCY (CBS, New!) - Dailyn Rodriguez ("Queen of the South") has booked a new drama at the Eye about "a Latina doctor unable to practice when she immigrates to Miami who begins work as a nurse's assistant, but risks everything when she opens a makeshift clinic in her apartment to serve the community." The project is based on Martin Rohe and Jan Gall's German series from 2015. Intrigue Entertainment's Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter as well as I Can & I Will Productions' Gina Rodriguez and Emily Gipson will also executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
HOT BENCH (Syndication) - David Theodosopoulos has been named executive producer of the show's fourth season with Belinda Jackson likewise joining as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
ILLEGAL (The CW, New!) - Rafael Agustin ("Jane the Virgin") has set up a drama at the netlet based on his real-life experience about 16-year-old Rafael: "He is a charming but bumbling high school student just trying to survive puberty. But when this all-American teenager discovers that he is not American at all, his perfect Honor Roll world is turned upside down." Gina Rodriguez and Emily Gipson will executive produce via their CBS Television Studios-based I Can & I Will Productions with Agustin as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (CBS, New!) - Jordan Harper ("Gotham") is spearheading a new small screen take on James Ellroy's noir classic novel-turned-feature, about "three homicide detectives, a female reporter and a Hollywood actress whose paths intersect as the detectives pursue a sadistic serial killer through the seedy underbelly of glamorous 1950s Los Angeles." Lionsgate Television and CBS Television Studios are behind the hour with Arnon Milchan also executive producing. FOX previously took a stab at an adaptation in 2000 with Kiefer Sutherland among the principals. (Deadline.com)
ME, MYSELF & I (CBS) - Tim Reid and Alkoya Brunson will both recur on the freshman comedy as the older and younger versions of Jaleel White's present day Darryl: "Smart and savvy, Older Darryl (Reid) has remained the best friend and confidant of Alex Riley for almost 50 years. Confident and practical, Younger Darryl (Brunson) quickly becomes Alex's best friend and collaborator on his inventions." (Deadline.com)
ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - Mekia Cox's recent addition Princess Tiana has been upped to series regular for the show's seventh season. (Deadline.com)
RATCHED (Netflix, New!) - Frequent collaborators Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson have scored a two-season, 18-episode, straight-to-series order for a "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" prequel series which will follow "Nurse Ratched's (Paulson) journey and evolution from nurse to full-fledged monster." Michael Douglas, Aleen Keshishian, Margaret Riley and Jacob Epstein are also on board to executive produce with Evan Romansky penning the script and co-executive producing for Fox 21 Television Studios and Lighthouse Management & Media. Murphy will helm the debut installment. Paulson and Paul Zaentz of the Saul Zaentz Company will receive producing credits. (Deadline.com)
STAR (FOX) - Keke Palmer is slated to recur on the show's upcoming sophomore run as Gigi, "a hot recording artist who is "ratchet and rich." While alienating her current label, she is courted by Ayanna and the girl's new label, Midtown records. Despite all the showy glitz, Gigi is a serious musician, looking for "good producers and bomb ass records."" (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TIM DOYLE PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Tim Doyle ("Last Man Standing") has scored a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a single-camera comedy about "an Irish-Catholic family with a working class dad, traditional mom. and eight sons as they struggle to cope in the turbulent 1970's. Ten people, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one shower and zero care about "building a child's self-esteem."" ABC Studios, home to Doyle's overall deal, is behind the half-hour. (THR.com)
