BBC AMERICA'S NEW THRILLER "KILLING EVE" COMMENCES FILMING ACROSS EUROPE

Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer lead series penned by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd.

Fiona Shaw, David Haig, Kim Bodnia, Darren Boyd, Sean Delaney, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Owen McDonnell join the cast

London - August 23, 2017 - Filming has commenced on BBC AMERICA's all-new eight-part thriller, Killing Eve, penned by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd. Based on the 'Villanelle' novellas by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve follows two fiercely intelligent women - a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down. Starring Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy, Sideways) and Jodie Comer (The White Princess, Thirteen), the series - a combination of brutal mischief making and pathos - is filled with sharp humor, originality and high stakes action. Killing Eve is filming on locations including Paris, Tuscany, Berlin and London and will debut on BBC AMERICA in 2018.

Eve (Oh) is a bored, whip-smart security services operative whose desk-bound job doesn't fulfil her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle (Comer), is a talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. These two fierce women, equally obsessed with each other, will go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse, toppling the typical spy-action thriller.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, writer, showrunner and executive producer, said: "I'm hugely excited to have started filming Killing Eve. It's looking fantastic and our cast, led by the indomitable Sandra and Jodie, are to die for!"

Sarah Barnett, BBC AMERICA President commented: "Bringing Phoebe's remarkable writing to life with this genius cast and crew is enthralling. Killing Eve promises to be an original - blackly funny and joltingly affecting, glamorous and startlingly realistic, a vivid and colorful noir thriller."

Sally Woodward Gentle, executive producer and MD of Sid Gentle said: "We at Sid Gentle couldn't be more excited about the extraordinary talent we have both in front and behind camera. It's going to be a blast."

Sandra Oh received widespread critical acclaim for her outstanding performance on Grey's Anatomy for which she received a Golden Globe(R), two SAG awards and five Primetime Emmy(R) Award nominations. Her other notable television roles include American Crime and HBO's Arli$$. Oh's award-winning performances in film include Sideways, Last Night and Double Happiness, and most recently she starred in the cult films Catfight and Window Horses. She has also been featured in films such as Under the Tuscan Sun, The Princess Diaries, Dancing at the Blue Iguana and Rabbit Hole.

Jodie Comer has appeared in numerous programs including The White Princess, the recent adaptation of Lady Chatterley's Lover, the drama series Doctor Foster, and BBC AMERICA'S miniseries Thirteen, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA award for Best Leading Actress. Her other television credits include Rillington Place, My Mad Fat Diary and Remember Me. She will also be seen in England is Mine due for release later this year.

Announced today, joining Oh and Comer are Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, True Blood) who plays Carolyn Martens, David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Penny Dreadful) as Eve's colleague Bill, and Kim Bodnia (The Bridge) as Konstantin. Further cast includes Darren Boyd (Frank Haleton), Sean Delaney (Kenny Stowton), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Elena Felton) and Owen McDonnell (Niko).

Killing Eve is produced by Sid Gentle Ltd. for BBC AMERICA with Waller-Bridge serving as showrunner and executive producer. Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris also executive produce with Colin Wratten serving as producer.
