J.J. Soria ("Animal Kingdom, "The Fosters") Joins Cast of Crackle's "THE OATH," Premiering 2018
Wanted to share news that J.J. Soria ("Animal Kingdom," "The Fosters") has joined the cast of Crackle's original one-hour drama series "The Oath," which is set to debut in 2018. Soria will play Officer Pete Ramos, partner and friend of Officer Steve Hammond (portrayed by Ryan Kwanten), and second-in-command of the Ravens cop gang. Ramos is streetwise with a nervous energy, and a family man who is driven by the need to prove himself worthy of his wife who comes from wealth and privilege. Soria joins the previously announced members of the ensemble: Ryan Kwanten ("True Blood"), Cory Hardrict (American Sniper, Gran Torino), Katrina Law ("Training Day"), Arlen Escarpeta ("The Magicians") and "Game of Thrones" alum, Sean Bean.
Created by Joe Halpin ("Hawaii Five-O," "Secrets and Lies"), who worked as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy in South Central for 17 years, 12 of which as an undercover officer, the series takes ?an unforgiving look at the complicated dynamics in these organizations and documents the lives of those willing to risk it all, to have it all. The gritty, action-packed drama, explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join - only a select few make the cut-but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.
The Oath" is executive produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television Inc., Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim of Storied Media Group, as well as former Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Joe Halpin ("Hawaii Five-O," "Secrets And Lies"), who served for over a decade as an undercover cop in South Central and brings an invaluable air of authenticity to the series in his role as series creator, writer, and showrunner. Veteran filmmaker Jeff T. Thomas ("Blindspot," "Wayward Pines") will direct the series' premiere episode.
Soria is currently recurring on TNT's "Animal Kingdom" and Freeform's "The Fosters." Last year J.J. had guest spots on NBC's "Grimm" and Fox's "Rosewood," ABC's "American Crime," and recurred on NBC's "The Night Shift." On the film side J.J. starred in Blumhouse/Universal's The Purge: Election Year as Marcos. His resume also includes Sundance hits Filly Brown, All She Can and Hamlet 2, along with Kirsten Stewart's indie- Camp X-Ray, and MGM's feature- Max.
Soria is represented by Pakula/King & Associates and David Dean Management.
