ALL FOUR EPISODES OF DOCUMENTARY EVENT "THE DEFIANT ONES" TO BE AVAILABLE ON HBO NOW AND HBO GO JULY 9
NEW YORK, June 27, 2017 - The four-part documentary event THE DEFIANT ONES is scheduled to air on the HBO network across consecutive nights, July 9-12. In a first for HBO, all four episodes will be made available early for streaming exclusively on HBO NOW, HBO GO and affiliate portals, as well as on HBO On Demand. This provides HBO subscribers the opportunity to watch THE DEFIANT ONES immediately and in its entirety. The full documentary's arrival on the platforms will coincide with the linear airing on the HBO network July 9 at 9:00 p.m. (ET).
Set amid many of the defining events of the past four decades, the show tells the stories of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, their improbable partnership and their leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture. Directed by Allen Hughes, who conducted extensive interviews with both men, it also includes interviews with such music icons as Bono, David Geffen, Eminem, Nas, Stevie Nicks, Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani, Jon Landau, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Snoop Dogg, Bruce Springsteen, Diddy and will.i.am. In addition, THE DEFIANT ONES features never-before-seen footage from a multitude of recording and writing sessions with Eazy-E, JJ Fad, Stevie Nicks, N.W.A., Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and U2, among others.
Defiance is defined as "daring or bold resistance to authority or to any opposing force." This unique and inspiring tale shows how decades of defiance and determination helped Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre build a few empires, make a series of American Dreams come true and transform two street kids into global forces to be reckoned with, here and now. The result is a master class in how to work your way up from the bottom to beyond your wildest dreams.
