Ellen DeGeneres will be headlining a stand-up special for Netflix
The special marks Ellen's anticipated return to stand-up comedy.
Ellen DeGeneres said: "It has been 15 years since I did a stand-up special. 15 years. And I'm writing it now, I can't wait. I'll keep you posted when and where I'm gonna shoot my Netflix special. I'm excited to do it; I'm excited for you to see it."

As a beloved television icon and entertainment pioneer, Ellen DeGeneres' distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film, and in the literary world. Ellen DeGeneres has made a home for herself in daytime with her hit syndicated talk show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Now going into its fifteenth season, the show has earned a total of 59 Daytime Emmy(R) Awards. The award-winning host had the honor of hosting the Academy Awards, the Primetime Emmys, and the Grammy Awards. Most recently, President Obama presented DeGeneres with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November 2016. In addition, in October 2012, DeGeneres was awarded with the 15th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. DeGeneres also received critical success for her Emmy nominated HBO stand-up specials - "The Beginning" and "Here and Now."DeGeneres' career began as an emcee at a local comedy club in her hometown of New Orleans. Her acting career in television included roles in several successful sitcoms before being offered a part on "These Friends of Mine" by ABC. After the first season, the show was renamed "Ellen." Running from 1994 to 1998, the show garnered record ratings, with DeGeneres receiving Emmy(R) nominations each season in the Best Actress category. In 1997, DeGeneres was the recipient of the coveted Peabody Award as well as earning an Emmy(R) for writing the critically acclaimed "Puppy Episode" when her character came out as a gay woman to a record 46 million viewers.
