KEVIN JAMES BRINGS ALL-NEW ORIGINAL STAND-UP COMEDY SPECIAL TO NETFLIX IN 2018

Hollywood, Calif., March 20, 2017 -- Kevin James is returning to his stand-up roots with an all-new comedy special for Netflix, the world's leading Internet TV network. The veteran comic's latest special, slated to shoot later this year, will launch globally on Netflix in 2018.

A comedian, producer, writer and Emmy-nominated actor, James is an established and well-respected staple in entertainment today. Discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival -- and unwittingly taking the first step in what would become an illustrious career -- he signed a network development deal which lead to the creation of his 1998 CBS smash-hit The King of Queens.

The sitcom, starring and executive-produced by James, ran for nine seasons and garnered the actor a 2006 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. While Queens wrapped its run in 2007, it still continues to air daily and find a new audience in syndication around the world.

James made his televised stand-up debut in 2001 with Sweat the Small Stuff, an hourlong special for Comedy Central, and in 2005 made his foray into film with the rom-com Hitch, where he starred opposite Will Smith. He went on to produce, co-write and star in the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, Zookeeper and Here Comes The Boom, and his continued success on the big screen has been marked by a fan-favorite partnership with fellow comedian Adam Sandler, each of whom have co-starred together in Pixels, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2 and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Most recently, he led the 2016 Netflix original film, True Memoirs of an International Assassin.

James currently stars in and executive-produces the CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait, which debuted in 2016. He'll next appear in the Netflix original film Sandy Wexler, launching globally April 14.

Having recently become the home for all-new stand-up comedy specials from Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K. and Jerry Seinfeld, Netflix continues to thrive as a hub for top original comedy specials, including 2016's Emmy-nominated shows from both John Mulaney and Patton Oswalt (2016 Emmy winner for Writing for a Variety Special), and recent specials from Cedric the Entertainer, Iliza Shlesinger, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy, Russell Peters, Ali Wong, Mike Epps, Aziz Ansari, Anjelah Johnson, Bill Burr, Chris Tucker, Demetri Martin, Chelsea Handler, Bo Burnham, Jim Jefferies, David Cross, Joe Rogan, Dana Carvey, Colin Quinn (directed by Jerry Seinfeld), Michael Che, Reggie Watts, Gabriel Iglesias, Jim Gaffigan, Jen Kirkman, Neal Brennan, Cristela Alonzo, Bill Burr, Michael Bolton, Katherine Ryan, Trevor Noah, Mike Birbiglia, Jim Norton and Amy Schumer. Additional upcoming comedy specials include Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, Hasan Minhaj, Chris D'elia, Vir Das, Maz Jobrani and Jo Koy.
