HISTORY(R) WILL PUSH VIEWERS TO THEIR LIMITS ON THURSDAY NIGHTS

HIT SURVIVAL SERIES 'ALONE' RETURNS FOR SEASON THREE ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8 AT 9PM ET/PT FOLLOWED BY THE NEW ORIGINAL UNSCRIPTED SERIES 'THE SELECTION: SPECIAL OPERATIONS EXPERIMENT' AT 10PM ET/PT

New York, NY - November 2, 2016 - HISTORY's fearless survival series "Alone" returns for a ten episode third season, premiering Thursday, December 8 at 9PM ET/PT, followed by the series premiere of the original unscripted series, "The Selection: Special Operations Experiment" at 10PM ET/PT. With higher stakes and greater challenges than ever before, "Alone," will place ten hardcore survivalists - both male and female - alone in the cold, isolated region of Patagonia, Argentina with one mission: to stay alive. There are no camera crews, no teams, and no gimmicks. In a new remote location at the bottom of the globe, survivalists will face treacherous predators like never before, experience unforgiving and unpredictable weather conditions and showcase unbelievable building acumen by creating some of the most ingenious inventions ever seen.

Equipped only with limited gear, their wilderness experience, and cameras to self-document their journeys, these brave men and women are completely separated from one another in harsh, unforgiving terrain. Thousands of miles away from home, the survivalists are unaware of when others tap out, increasing the pressure. To survive, they must find food and water, build shelters and fend off predators. They will face extreme isolation, psychological distress, and treacherous environmental conditions as they descend into the unknown. In the most dangerous season yet, the harsh conditions of Patagonia force the urgent medical evacuation of many individuals throughout the season.

Each episode of "Alone" features the nerve-wracking thrill of watching individuals face the fury of Mother Nature while plunging into a state of isolation unimaginable in today's hyper-connected, always-on world. These participants must battle everything from territorial predators such as puma and wild boar, to sub-zero temperatures of an extremely remote location. Determined to thrive in any environment, the men and women of season three display incredible ingenuity building elaborate creations such as a floating, propeller driven duck trap, self-draining wooden shelter floors, a punji stick boar trap and a live fish refrigerator system.

Immediately following the season three premiere of "Alone," HISTORY debuts its newest unscripted series from executive producer Peter Berg "The Selection: Special Operations Experiment" at 10pm ET/PT. The series places 30 men and women with no military background through an immersive, authentic experience led by veterans of the Navy SEALs, Green Berets and Army Rangers, while offering insight into the origins of these physical and mental challenges.

Special Operations units around the globe devise extreme training and assessment exercises in order to find the best of the best. "The Selection: Special Operations Experiment" instructors employ tests such as tear gas, interrogation stimulation and psychological warfare, driving participants to push themselves to the limits of the human body and mind. It will be the ultimate test of self-discovery, physical strength, and mental limitation. This is not a competition series - no cash rewards - only a test against oneself to see if the mind has the will and strength to push the body to complete the challenges.

"Alone" is produced for HISTORY by Leftfield Pictures. David George, Shawn Witt, Zachary Green and Ryan Pender serve as executive producers for Leftfield Pictures. Zachary Behr and Russ McCarroll serve as executive producers for HISTORY. A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for "Alone."

"The Selection: Special Operations Experiment" is produced for HISTORY by Film 45 and Bunim/Murray Productions. Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), Matt Goldberg, Brandon Carroll, and Grant Kahler are executive producers for Film 45, and Gil Goldschein is executive producer for Bunim/Murray Productions. Cem Yeter and Joel Karsberg also serve as executive producers. Tim Healy, Stephen Mintz and Russ McCarroll are executive producers for HISTORY. "The Selection: Special Operations Experiment" is based on Minnow Films' format "SAS: Who Dares Wins" and will be distributed in The Americas by A+E Networks.
