313, THE (CBS, New!) - Actress Tika Sumpter, writer Tracy McMillan and producer Michael London are set to team for a new Detroit-set drama about "when a sex scandal brings down the current administration, a 29-year-old female City Council President (Sumpter) suddenly becomes the Mayor of Detroit and has to contend with all the staggering obstacles the job brings." CBS Television Studios and Groundswell Productions are behind the hour with McMillan, London and Emily Gerson Saines executive producing as well as Sumpter serving as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
ASH VS. EVIL DEAD (Starz) - The pay channel has reportedly renewed the series for a 10-episode third season. (Deadline.com)
CROSSING, THE (ABC, New!) - Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie ("Criminal Minds") have sold a potential drama to the Alphabet which "revolves around refugees from a war torn country who start showing up seeking asylum in a U.S. city... but the country these people are from is America, and the war they are fleeing is 500 years in the future." ABC Studios is behind the hour with former Disney executive-turned-producer Jason Reed also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY (BBC America) - Julian McMahon and Jessica Lowndes will both visit the newcomer as Patrick Spring, "a multi-millionaire pivotal to the eight-part murder mystery series"; and Jake Rainey, "a character that is described as the "supreme soul" and leader of the evil Men of the Machine in the Max Landis penned series." (Deadline.com)
ELEMENTS (USA, New!) - Author James Frey has sold a new drama to the cable channel which "follows the aftermath of an extreme environmental shift across the world. On a beautiful day in Miami, it starts to snow, and doesn't stop - leaving the world frozen as one man searches for his fiancée before the world falls into complete stasis." The project is based on Babel Films' French-language Canadian film/web series "Temps Mort." Full Fathom Five, Amblin Television, Intrigue and Universal Cable Productions will all co-produce with Todd Cohen, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Tariq Jalil also executive producing. Lucas Carter is a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
FREQUENCY (The CW) - Kenneth Mitchell will recur on the newcomer as Joe Hurley, "a local church Deacon who isn't quite the family man he appears to be." (Deadline.com)
GYPSY (Netflix) - Lucy Boynton (Sing Street) is the latest to board the Naomi Watts-led drama as Allison, "a 19-year-old patient of Jean's (Watts). She has recently dropped out of school to support her addiction and is hiding this secret from her mother." (Deadline.com)
IN DEFENSE OF TOM PARISH (NBC, New!) - George Gallo and Josh Posner have booked a potential drama at the Peacock about Tom Parish, "a successful Manhattan defense attorney who was once a high-end art thief. After a stretch in a federal prison where he learned the law, he reinvented himself and quickly rose to the top of his new profession. Tom's success lies in his unique ability to see the law in the same way he views art, laying out the details of a case like the brushstrokes of a painting, placing them all together until he's crafted his masterpiece." Universal Television-based Hazy Mills Productions is behind the hour with Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
INFAMOUS (A.K.A. RITTER) (NBC) - The Peacock is taking another stab at importing Sigurjón Kjartansson's Icelandic series "Réttur," about "a fast-rising hotshot attorney is jailed for a murder he doesn't remember, and believes he didn't commit. Six years later, he's released on a technicality - which doesn't mean that he's innocent, or that his old life wants him back. He wanted to be famous; now he's infamous. He re-enters his family firm to find his brother's taken his seat at the table - and also his fiancée. While solving cases each week, he'll do anything to find out what really happened that fateful night, and who might have set him up. And he changes the ways of the family firm, whether they like it or not." Writer Eli Attie ("House") and directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra ("This Is Us") are spearheading the project, which has a put pilot commitment. Zaftig Films' Charlie Gogolak, Sagafilm's Kjartan Thor Thordarson and Scripted World's Rob Golenberg and Alon Aranya will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. Alex Cary previously penned a domestic take in 2012 from fellow executive producers Howard Gordon and Hugh Fitzpatrick. (Deadline.com)
IZOMBIE (The CW) - Jason Dohring ("Veronica Mars") has been tapped for a role on the new season as Chase Graves, the brother-in-law of Vivian Stoll. (TVLine.com)
JANE THE VIRGIN (The CW) - Justina Machado will recur on the upcoming season as Darcy Factor, "an all-business brassy, formidable and likes-to-be-in-control matchmaker whom Rogelio (Jaime Camil) goes to see about finding a woman. Very protective of her female clientele, Darcy has strict rules about her dating service, all of which Ro breaks right away. However, Darcy gives Ro another chance (or two) and ultimately comes up with a surprising proposition for him." (Deadline.com)
MAKING HISTORY (FOX) - Natalie Morales ("The Grinder") will recur on the midseason entry as Mona Rivero, "a writer for the local newspaper who begins to suspect that all is not on the level with Deborah (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Adam Pally)." (Deadline.com)
MIDSUMMER'S NIGHTMARE, A (Lifetime) - Dominic Monaghan is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, while Gary Fleder is set to direct and executive produce. Monaghan will play Mike Puck, "the laid-back and well-spoken proprietor of the Dreamland Retreat, a rustic group of rental cabins in the woods. Although initially suspicious of his young guests, Puck becomes a formidable ally when things start to go awry." (Deadline.com)
NASHVILLE (CMT) - Bridgit Mendler ("Undateable") will recur on the new season as Ashley Wilkenson, "an internet sensation with 30 million viewers who is about to record her first album. Sexy, self-assured and stubborn, Ashley is extremely talented. But underneath her certainty is a well of vulnerability." (THR.com)
STAR (FOX) - Tyrese Gibson has scored an arc on the midseason entry as Pastor Bobby Harris, who "presides over Carlotta's (Queen Latifah) warm congregation. A handsome ex-thug who has turned his life over to God, Bobby begins a relationship with Carlotta. Their romance will be challenged on many fronts and which will ultimately create a crisis of faith for them both." (TVLine.com)
STILL AT LARGE (CBS, New!) - Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie ("Criminal Minds") are back in business with the Eye for a new drama about "after evading the largest manhunt in U.S. history and becoming infamous for a murder he didn't commit, a man is recruited by the U.S. Marshals to track other fugitives, where he's paired with a female partner who questions whether he really is innocent." Chris Brancato will also co-write the hour, which has a put pilot commitment, for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
