SANDRA OH SET TO GUEST STAR IN A MULTI-EPISODE ARC,
ON THE THIRD SEASON OF 'AMERICAN CRIME'
Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winner Sandra Oh is set to guest star in the multiple Emmy-nominated series "American Crime" when it returns to ABC in 2017. Set in Alamance County, North Carolina, Oh will play Abby Tanaka, a social worker who runs a local shelter dedicated to housing victims of domestic abuse in the face of community indifference.
Sandra has won a Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang on the hit ABC series "Grey's Anatomy," for which Sandra has also received five Emmy Award nominations. Her additional television credits include seven seasons as Rita Wu on HBO's "Arliss," for which she won a Cable Ace Award, "Six Feet Under," "Judging Amy" and the CBC film "The Diary of Evelyn Lau," which she won Best Actress at the FIPA in Cannes. Sandra's film credits include the enormously successful Fox Searchlight feature film "Sideways," for which she won a Screen Actors Guild & Critics Choice Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. She also performed in "Tammy," "Under the Tuscan Sun," "The Princess Diaries" and "Dancing at the Blue Iguana." Canadian indie films include "Double Happiness" and "Last Night," for which she won Genies Awards for Best Actress, "Three Needles," "Long Life Happiness and Prosperity" and "The Red Violin." She has returned to the theatre in recent productions of "Death and the Maiden," in Chicago, and Julia Cho's "Office Hour," at South Coast Rep.
Sandra stars in the upcoming films "Catfight" and "Window Horses," an animated film which she also served as executive producer. Both premiered at the 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival this September 2016 to outstanding reviews.
"American Crime" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound. This program carries a TV-14, D, L, S, V parental guideline.
"American Crime" was written, directed and produced by Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley ("12 Years a Slave"). Executive producers are John Ridley and Michael J. McDonald. "American Crime" is produced by ABC Studios.
