HISTORY(R) HONORS VETERANS DAY WITH SPECIAL MARATHON EVENT OF THE NEW ORIGINAL SERIES, "THE WARFIGHTERS"

Night to Be Hosted by Executive Producer Peter Berg and Veteran Special Forces Green Beret Bert Kuntz

Four Back-to-Back New Episodes to Air on Friday, November 11 Beginning at 8pm ET/PT

New York, NY - September 28, 2016 - HISTORY is honoring veterans with a special four-hour Veterans Day marathon event of its original docuseries "The Warfighters." The marathon event will be hosted by executive producer Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) and veteran Special Forces Green Beret Bert Kuntz ("The Selection: Special Operations Experiment"). Driven by first-person accounts, the unnarrated series chronicles recent U.S. Special Operations Forces missions in the global war on terror as it gives viewers an inside and candid look at the realities of war. The series is largely made in part by veterans with over 90 veterans participating in the production. "The Warfighters," premieres with four back-to-back new episodes on Friday, November 11 beginning at 8pm ET/PT.

The United States Special Operations Forces are arguably the most highly trained warriors in the world and since 2001 they have been fighting the global war on terror - the longest ongoing conflict in American history. Army Rangers, Green Berets, Marines, and Navy SEALs are among the brave that operate at the tip of the spear combating terrorism. "The Warfighters" is a bona fide, powerful portrayal of the high-stakes environment that these service members must operate in and the challenges they face from doing so. Each episode includes intimate interviews, action-packed cinematic sequences and real images and footage from the actual operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The series represents the human experience of war; true stories of heroism, bravery, brotherhood, sacrifice, and, above all, honor.

"The Warfighters" Veterans Day special marathon event (airing on Friday, November 11 from 8pm-11:59pm ET/PT) features the stories of Objective Breton - a group of U.S. Army Rangers who go after a jihadist network; The Green Berets of 7115 - a team of Special Forces that are ambushed by Taliban fighters and have to fight their way to safety after a teammate is critically shot; A Warrior's Battle: The Story of Rob Guzzo - the story of Navy SEAL, Rob Guzzo, whose platoon deploys to Iraq in 2006 and faces an evil enemy and combat so intense, it leaves Guzzo with PTSD; and Ambush of April 7th - on April 7, 2004 a group of U.S. Marines got ambushed while on an operation near Fallujah, Iraq - but together, the Marines fought their fears to stay calm and fought on - making 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Bravo Company, 2nd Platoon one of the most decorated platoons for heroism in a single action in the War on Terror. Additional new episodes of "The Warfighters" is slated to air in early 2017.

"We can never do enough to pay tribute to our vets and military servicemen. I'm incredibly happy that HISTORY continues honoring these great men and women with 'The Warfighters,'" said Berg. "This series is special to me because we get to make it with veterans."

"The Warfighters" marks the second military series on HISTORY's current schedule that comes from executive producer Peter Berg and his unscripted shingle Film 45. Film 45 is also producing the recently announced new series, "The Selection: Special Operations Experiment."

"The Warfighters" is produced by Film 45 for HISTORY. Executive Producers from Film 45 are Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, "Friday Night Lights"), Matt Goldberg and Brandon Carroll with Jenny Ewig as Co-Executive Producer, and former Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza and former Army Ranger Mike Baumgarten as Producers. Matt Ginsburg, Russ McCarroll and Paul Cabana are Executive Producers for HISTORY. A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for "The Warfighters."
