NEW YORK - June 22, 2016 - Ahead of the premiere of its highly-anticipated music series ROADIES, SHOWTIME will debut a celebratory documentary, titled MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP, honoring the essential role of roadies on tour. The 35-minute film, directed and executive produced by Sam Jones (Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart) will premiere on Friday, June 24th at 8 p.m. ET/PT. ROADIES, the new original series from Oscar(R) winner Cameron Crowe and executive producers Winnie Holzman and J.J. Abrams, will premiere Sunday, June 26th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP chronicles the true stories of musicians and the relationships they have with their road crew. Music legends Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket) speak candidly about their time on the road and the importance of the men and women who work tirelessly to put the show together. In addition to intimate one-on-one interviews, cameras capture the daily labors of the tour manager, guitar technician, front of house engineer and lighting technicians on the road with legendary rock band Pearl Jam as they prepare for a stadium performance. The film also follows the band Hippo Campus and their behind-the-scenes team as they tour the country. From waking up at 5 a.m. to day-long stage builds to life on the tour bus, MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP captures the true essence of what it means to be a roadie.
Sam Jones is well-known for music documentaries that include Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued and I Am Trying To Break Your Heart. He also has his own show on DirecTV titled Off Camera With Sam Jones. The film is produced by Todd Dana and Beware Doll Films.
With an ensemble cast headed by Luke Wilson (Old School, Enlightened) and Screen Actors Guild Award(R) nominee Carla Gugino (San Andreas), ROADIES gives an insider's look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of roadies who live for music and the de facto family they've formed along the way. The series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music's unsung heroes and pays homage to the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring for the successful arena-level group.
