BABY, THE (NBC, New!) - Seann William Scott is set to star in a potential comedy for the Peacock about "the youngest male in an organized crime family of all women. Though he's tough at work, his mother and seven older sisters mercilessly push him around at home." Craig DiGregorio will pen the project, which is based on an idea by Scott and executive producer Amy Poehler. Said effort, which has a pilot production commitment, is part of Poehler and Brooke Posch's new overall deal with Universal Television for their Paper Kite banner. 3 Arts Entertainment's Dave Becky and Nick Frenkel will also executive produce. BLINDSPOT (NBC) - Archie Panjabi ("The Good Wife") has been tapped for a recurring role on the show's sophomore run. She'll play "the head of a secret division of the NSA that has been tracking the Jane Doe case from afar." (Deadline.com)
GIRLBOSS (Netflix) - Johnny Simmons has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming comedy, about Sophia (Britt Robertson), "a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up." He'll play Shane, "an indie band tour manager and occasional drummer who is smitten with Sophia." (Deadline.com)
GODLESS (Netflix) - Rob Morgan is set to recur on the limited period drama, "a Western set in an 1800s New Mexico mining town." He'll play John Randall, further details of which weren't given. (Deadline.com)
MAJOR CRIMES (TNT) - The cable channel has quietly ordered eight additional episodes of the series, bringing its season five total to 21. (TVLine.com)
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (CMT) - Dustin Ingram has been cast as Carl Perkins in the project, "one of the fathers of rock n' roll and part of the legendary quartet of Johnny Cash (Kevin Fonteyne) Jerry Lee Lewis (Christian Lees) and Elvis Presley (Drake Milligan)." (Deadline.com)
NASHVILLE (CMT) - Will Chase's Luke Wheeler and Aubrey Peeples's Layla Grant won't return as series regulars for the new CMT bound season. (TVLine.com)
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (CBS) - Vanessa Ferlito ("Graceland") has joined the cast of the show's third season. She'll play "a sexy, tough and acerbic FBI Special Agent who is sent down to New Orleans from DC to investigate the NCIS team. A by-the-book bureaucrat, she'll bring a completely different way of doing things - as well as a mysterious past, natch - to New Orleans, which will put her at odds with both the team and the town." PREP (HBO, New!) - Colleen McGuinness ("30 Rock") is looking to bring Curtis Sittenfeld's bestselling debut novel to the small screen at the pay channel. The project "follows a Midwestern girl's coming of age as she navigates an exclusive New England boarding school." Carolyn Strauss will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
SILICON VALLEY (HBO) - Showrunner Alec Berg has signed a two-year overall deal with the pay channel. Berg also co-created HBO's upcoming comedy "Barry." (Variety.com)
TIME AFTER TIME (ABC) - Nicole Ari Parker ("Rosewood") has signed onto the midseason drama. She'll play Vanessa Anders, "a billionaire philanthropist, avid art collector and the current owner of the Time Machine. She will become a trusted ally of H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) even as she guards the secrets that could change his past and alter his future." Said role was played by Regina Taylor in the original pilot. (Deadline.com)
VINYL (HBO) - The pay channel has opted not to proceed with a second season of the series, despite issuing a renewal back in February. "After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of 'Vinyl,'" HBO said in a statement. "Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project." (Deadline.com)
WHEN WE RISE (ABC) - Rob Reiner, T.R. Knight, Phylicia Rashad, Richard Schiff, Mary McCormack, Arliss Howard, Henry Czerny, William Sadler and Pauley Perrette are all slated to appear in undisclosed roles on the upcoming limited series. (Variety.com)
