Investigation Discovery Joins Law Enforcement in an Ongoing Investigation of Six Open Cases in New Docuseries "The Vanishing Women"
Six Women in Chillicothe, Ohio Have Gone Missing or Been Found Dead Since May, 2014
(New York, NY) - On the surface, Chillicothe, Ohio is the epitome of quintessential Middle America. But this home in the heartland was catapulted into the national spotlight recently for a much darker claim to fame: a string of six young women have gone missing or been found dead in the past year and a half. The women, all in their 20s and 30s, are believed to have known each other and all have ties to the dark underbelly of this small town, leading the local community to fear a serial killer on the loose. With unprecedented access, Investigation Discovery (ID) has teamed with law enforcement, loved ones of the victims, and the community to document the investigation as it unfolds in an effort to bring further attention and help in solving these open cases. As ID's first serialized docuseries, the six-part series THE VANISHING WOMEN will premiere on Monday, June 6 at 10/9.
"An ambitious serialized docuseries, THE VANISHING WOMEN documents the past and present work of an active criminal investigation and, in that regard, we are honored to lend our own efforts and resources to those of the victims' loved ones as well as the skilled and adept forces at the Chillicothe Police Department and the Ross County Sheriff's Office," said Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America. "As the leading television destination for true crime investigation, our intention is to help elevate these cases to a national level in the hope that fresh leads or new information will surface so that the perpetrator - or perpetrators - are swiftly brought to justice."
Each one-hour episode of THE VANISHING WOMEN seeks to understand the circumstances around the disappearance of the women, while exploring the facts and evidence that seemingly brought them to their tragic fate. While each of the victims are believed to have known each other in some way, three of the women have been found dead in or near bodies of water, one was found shot to death, and two remain missing. Information on each of the women can be found here, and anyone with information is asked to call the task force hotline at 740-774-FIND (3463) or findme@RossSheriff.com.
THE VANISHING WOMEN is produced for Investigation Discovery by Sirens Media. For Sirens, Valerie Haselton is executive producer and Jennifer Anderson is co-executive producer. For Investigation Discovery, Eugenie Vink is executive producer, Sara Kozak is SVP of production, Kevin Bennett is general manager and Henry Schleiff is Group President, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America.
