HAIL MARY (ABC/ABCS/Sony; W: Brian Gallivan; D: Julie Anne Robinson) - Tom Stourton has joined the cast of the single-camera comedy pilot, about Mary Wolf (Casey Wilson), a young small-town mayor who has dysfunctional siblings, a dying father, disgruntled citizens, a nearly bankrupt town and the mafia breathing down her neck. He'll play Inspector Matteo, "a dry-witted, confident emissary from the Vatican who has come to this small town to investigate a sighting of the Virgin Mary." (Deadline.com)
KEVIN CAN WAIT (CBS/CTS/Sony; W: Bruce Helford, Kevin James & Rock Reuben; D: Andy Fickman) - Lenny Venito and Gary Valentine have both scored roles on the multi-camera comedy, about a newly retired police officer (Kevin James) looking forward to spending more quality time with his wife (Erinn Hayes) and three kids only to discover he faces much tougher challenges at home than he ever did on the streets. Venito will play Duffy, "Kevin's oldest buddy who has a great sense of humor and two ex-wives"; while Valentine is Kyle, "Kevin's brother who is a fireman and not taken seriously by Kevin and his cop buddies." MIRANDA'S RIGHTS (NBC/Universal; W: Katie Lovejoy; D: Jennifer Getzinger) - Parker Sawyers (Southside with You) has been tapped for a role on the drama pilot, about an idealistic group of lawyers who not only work together but live together at their start-up firm. He'll play Tanner, "a charming and confident attorney and one of the founders of YLG. He's also Miranda's (Rebecca Breeds) ex, the one she dumped to take up with the married senator. Now teamed with four other lawyers, all partners at a start-up law firm, he offers Miranda a job, only to ruffle the feathers of Lana (Jamie Chung), another attorney, also his fianceé." STILL STAR-CROSSED (ABC/ABCS; W: Heather Mitchell; D: Michael Offer) - Dan Hildebrand is the latest to board the drama pilot, a sequel to "Romeo & Juliet" that follows the conflict between the Capulets and the Montagues in the wake of Romeo and Juliet's deaths. He's set as Friar Lawrence, "who uses the church to climb the social ladder." (Deadline.com)
TICK, THE (Amazon/Sony; W: Ben Edlund; D: Wally Pfister) - Peter Serafinowicz has been tapped as the title role on the streaming service's new adaptation of Ben Edlund's comic book series. He'll play "the eponymous muscle-bound, antennae-sporting superhero. In the new incarnation, the blue-suited Tick is recovering from a memory loss and ends up reteaming with his sidekick Arthur (Griffin Newman) to fight evil. The two are surrounded by a new host of characters that include Arthur's sister Dot (Valorie Curry)." (Deadline.com)
WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS GO ON (Hulu/Paramount; W: Chris Hutton & Eddie O'Keefe; D: Brett Morgen) - Kelli Mayo and Ben Winchell are the latest additions to the drama pilot, a coming-of-age thriller about a sleepy, suburban town that is rocked by the brutal murder of a high school girl and her teacher in the summer of 1983. She'll play Berlice Beaman, "a 15-year-old bohemian bookworm"; while Winchell is Brad Krichoff, "the brooding, quarterback boyfriend of prom queen Chrissy Monroe." (Deadline.com)
