CBS Gives Super Bowl Sunday Spotlight to Late Night
CBS announced today that a special live edition of THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT will be broadcast immediately following SUPER BOWL 50 on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/7:00-8:00 PM, PT; time is approximate after post-game coverage). The Colbert-hosted LATE SHOW will be the first late night series ever to air in the post-Super Bowl slot.
The late night party on the Network will continue after late local news with a special Super Bowl Sunday edition of THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN (11:35 PM-12:35 AM, ET/8:35 PM-9:35 PM, PT; time is approximate).
"It's been a very big year in late night at CBS," said Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment. "We're extremely proud of our two new late night franchises, and we're thrilled to give Stephen and James this big Super Bowl Sunday showcase."
Since THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT debuted on Sept. 8, it has generated an immediate impact on ratings, pop culture and social media conversation. Its audience has increased +20% to 3.29 million viewers, and is up +200% in adults 18-34, +60% in adults 18-49 and +43% in adults 25-54, compared to last year. Digitally, THE LATE SHOW has grown +2,100% in full episode streams on CBS.com and CBS apps, and has garnered 31 million social impressions since its premiere, more than any late night show, according to Nielsen Social.
THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN is averaging 1.32 million viewers since its premiere on March 23, and is up +33% in adults 18-34, compared to last year. Online, THE LATE LATE SHOW has amassed more than 264 million views on its YouTube channel, which has grown to more than 1 million subscribers. Many of Corden's signature "Carpool Karaoke" segments featuring top musical artists have become instant viral video sensations.
CBS Sports culminates its coverage of the 2015-2016 NFL season with SUPER BOWL 50 on Sunday, Feb. 7 (6:00 PM, ET) from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. SUPER BOWL 50 will be the Network's 19th Super Bowl broadcast overall.
