LEECHES, THE (NBC, New!) - Jim Rash and Nat Faxon (The Descendants) have sold a new comedy to the Peacock about Jess, "a young woman who, in an act of desperation to separate herself from her Pittsburgh family and be labeled a success, steals her mom's idea and lands on a home shopping channel with an instant top seller. Caught in the act and her new-found success threatened, Jess is forced to make her nurturing, but no-nonsense mom, Joan, a partner and subsequently go into business with the family she was so desperately trying to escape." The duo's Sony Pictures Television-based B Story is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Kevin Walsh will likewise executive produce. (Deadline.com)
MY SO CALLED WIFE (Bravo/UCP; W: Adam Brooks & Paul Adelstein; D: Adam Brooks) - Inbar Lavi ("The Last Ship") has been tapped for the lead role on the drama pilot, about Ava, a master-of-disguise con-artist who gets men and women to fall in love with her, marries them and then disappears with their money and just enough dirty inside information to guarantee they will never go to the police. But things get complicated when she falls in love with her latest mark, and three of her last victims join together to track her down. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED ALYSSA SHELASKY PROJECT (CBS, New!) - The life of author Alyssa Shelasky (Apron Anxiety: My Messy Affairs In and Out of the Kitchen) is being developed as a multi-camera comedy at the Eye. Said effort "centers on an optimistic and independent woman nearing 40 with an eccentric and supportive family (all of whom live in her building). She decides to become a single mother and in the process learns that sometimes raising a child takes a village." Shelasky and Marisa Coughlan will co-write the half-hour for Warner Bros. Television with Coughlan, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak of That's Wonderful Productions serving as executive producers. Shelasky will receive a producing credit. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED ELIZABETH KRUGER/CRAIG SHAPIRO PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Elizabeth Kruger and Craig Shapiro ("Extant") are back in business with the Eye for a new drama about "divorced ex-CIA spies who end up having to work with their biggest enemy - each other - when they're tasked with solving the mysterious murder of a mutual friend." Amblin Television's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank also serve as executive producers on the CBS Television Studios-based project, home to Kruger and Shapiro's new overall deal. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED RUPERT GRINT PROJECT (NBC, New!) - The Peacock has given a put pilot commitment to Harry Potter co-star Rupert Grint for a new drama about Rupert, "a low-level New York office drone obsessed with Imperial City, a comic book series his father created before his death. Rupert has spent his whole life believing he owned all nine issues. But when a mysterious comic book collector reveals the existence of a tenth issue, Rupert discovers that the world of Imperial City is real, and he is the one person who can save it." Silvio Horta is penning the project with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan also executive producing and Grint and Silent H Productions' Andrew Maher receiving producing credits. (Deadline.com)
